I wasn't watching when they gave it all the hype, but I did see enough commercials for it. However, I LIKED "Samurai Jack"! I don't think I had ever seen anything like it before. The closest thing I could compare it to would be a cross between "Star Wars" and the "Zelda" video games. It has humor, but it is a serious cartoon, mostly. The backgrounds are amazing, perhaps the best part of the show. It is certainly an improvement over "Dexter" or "Powerpuff Girls". Amazingly creative, but kept simple, it's not like those anime cartoons that are so over-the-top bizarre you can't understand them. The animation is limited, but not ugly, it's well stylized. The characters and voices are excellent. Rob Paulsen, the voice of Pinky the mouse, appeared in this premiere episode as a talking dog. Very good show, in my opinion, I believe it has some staying power. The documentary after the show was an interesting look at the creators...and they even flat-out stated that this show can be enjoyed by ADULTS as well as kids. Hey, if they do them this well, Cartoon-Cartoons have a place on CN....as long as they quit making the bad ones!

Actually, this show won't be placed under the "Cartoon Cartoon" name, but rather a new action show block with JLA.
Matthew pretty much summed up what's good about the show, but I really liked it, it was so unigue, funny and very pretty! I loved the talking dog too, he was so funny. I'll certainly watch the show on Monday to form a better opinion. There was one thing I didn't quite get, though. If the dogs were being forced into labor, then who was supervising them? You have to have SOMEONE to keep watch over the slaves, making sure they don't run away. I never saw anyone but the dogs, and AKU's robot things took a long time to get there. So couldn't the dogs have just run away? By the time anyone found out, they would be long gone, unless I missed something (I had to run out of the room for a couple minutes, so I could have missed something.)

Remember, Aku can see everything all the time. Remember how he spied on Samurai Jack?

I was impressed enough to want to watch the next few episodes. I felt that it dragged a bit in a few spots but the action sequences were phenominal and the animation was very creative.

it was pretty cool. it renewed my faith in american action cartoons. it did drag alittle. say, what do y'all think of this title: neocatz

He didn't see Samurai Jack until the three eyed woman-thingy told him about it. This would give the dogs enough time to get away by themselves.
Oh well, I don't care for continuity mistakes, they can help stories! Besides, Samauri Jack has renewed my faith in Cartoon Network studios, which hasn't really chuned out anything really good for quite a while (IMO).

If Samurai Jack isn't a "Cartoon Cartoon", how come it premiered during Cartoon Cartoon Friday? Explain that, please...
-Sveven:confused:
It doesn't matter when it premiers, many shows premier in different time slots. CN probably figured premiering it on CCF would boost viewership since it's already a time many people watch. The show will actually be on Monday nights...
from the news page:
Another CN representative states that neither Samurai Jack nor Justice League will be a part of "Cartoon Cartoon Fridays." CN has not yet ascribed a title to this new Monday primetime action programming block. According to my source, encore presentations of both shows will air on Sundays between 8-9 PM for an indefinite time.

This is a Cartoon Cartoon. It will air every Friday night during CCF. (well, reruns anyway)

It's Darrell, and yeah, I saw it. He does a lot of good imitations on SNL.

I was just watching part of this earlier, including a "making of" with Genndy and others involved, including the voice actors (Phil LaMarr, from Mad TV and Futurama, as Jack, and Mako, a well-travelled Japanese-born film and TV star*, as Aku)
I must admit I'm floored by the total look of this, but (1) to lump this together with Genndy's other CC stuff, and (2) to endlessly plug it even during classic-toon progs, is patently absurd.
*IMDB doesn't credit him under the series' listing there yet, only Genndy and Phil. I remember this guy from various Japanese-official bit parts on McHale's Navy...

Wrong. Not a Cartoon Cartoon (not that the name really matters). I'm not sure if SJ will be on every Fri, maybe just for the first few weeks, and you know what? Just because it will be on Fri. doesn't mean it'll be called a Cartoon Cartoon. Scroll to the bottom of this: http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4011

"Has not yet ascribed a title" as in "Something other than Cartoon Cartoon" Plus, there's the whole thng where they have never called it a Cartoon Cartoon, and it is completely different in style and tone from all of the Cartoon Cartoons.

Actually, It PRE-EMPTED CCF.

I'll clear this up. 7pm on Friday Night is CCF. If it will air every week at that time, it is therefore part of CCF. All shows in CCF must be Cartoon Cartoons so Samurai Jack must also be a Cartoon Cartoon.

And I'm NOT confused at myself...;)

Sure, Sveven. Whatever you say.
I wonder if they'll call it a Cartoon Cartoon on Fri. I don't really see Samurai Jack popping out of that logo and saying "Cartoon Cartoons." I wonder if maybe they will just start "Cartoon Cartoon Fridays" half an hour later. Gee....

By the way, I hope you realize that Gookie updated that page I linked to in order to specifically answer people who were asking "Is Samurai Jack a Cartoon Cartoon?" He knows people at CN and asked them if it was a Cartoon Cartoon and they said no, and that it would not be part of CCF. Maybe it's just going to show before CCF for a few weeks, hmmmmmm?

Is anyone else here reminded of Monty Python's argument clinic sketch?
