I'm thinking about breaking open a game I haven't played at all, but have owned forever: Code Veronica.

What're your opinions on these games? I'm pretty much a casual gamer, but feel pretty 133t, since I mastered the masterpiece, Shenmue II.

So.... what is the deal?

The RE games are decent exept for #2 and the remake, those I'd classify as GRRRRRRRRRREAT!!! ok, that was corny .

it's a injustice that code veronica wasn't RE:3. the 'other' re3 is more of a spin off then what many re fans consider the real re3, code veronica. CV is awesome. i recomend playing 3 anyway, even if it is a spin off its still a good game. and if you haven't played 2 yet, you must be living under a rock.
or just verry poor.

I'm a big RE freak (I pretty much bought a Gamecube just to play the remake) so I would suggest you'd go ahead & give CV a spin. It's without a doubt the best RE since the original (which is still the best). Too bad though that Capcom gave the PS2 version all that extra bonus footage leaving us Dreamcast owners out in the cold, but then I'm still ticked off because they didn't release Capcom Vs. SNK 2 stateside for the DC. There's just something about the disturbing atmosphere, the mysterious Umbrella consipracy & the interesting characters that make RE games so great. The original RE is the best of the bunch, none of the other RE games has really matched the experience of being trapped in that forsaken mansion. The gameplay was top-notch & a challenge to get through. RE 2 was a good game, but nowhere near the original RE. The action was ramped up almost too much compared to the slower pace of the first & the difficulty was dumbed down big time. RE 3 was pretty much a side game, more like an expansion pack of sorts to RE 2. CV was where the series came back to life. It had some huge revelations storywise, brought back some of the challenge of RE 1 & had some solid graphics that still hold up today. Of course the remake was great with it's fancy graphics & everything. It was quite the sight for somebody like me who must've played RE 1 way too many times in the past. Well, I guess that's all I have to say...

Resident Evil is a great series to me, cause I'm a George Romero fan. I remember when I played the first RE for the PSX... it was sheer gaming exuberance. Like Night of The Living Dead, only playable. Code Veronica also happens to be my favorite game in the series (though RE2 comes close). You should definitely take CV for a spin, it's loads of fun.

When I get a Gamecube one of the first games I'm gonna get will be the Resident Evil remake, which looks amazing (that and Rogue Leader/Eternal Darkness).

What hooked me on the RE series was the port they did for the N64 - simply AMAZING. They stuffed in nearly all the cutscenes (missing a few seconds here and there i think), Dolby 5.1 sound, upped the graphics, and nearly gave me a heart attack when

the licker comes crashing through the mirror in the interrogation room, as well as the zombie hands reaching through the boards

Afterwards my cousin let me borrow his PSX, and I played RE1 and RE3...still meaning to play CV.

I totally agree. The RE series is like participating in a really cool zombie flick, and CV is one of it's finer installments (although I happen to be one of the few people that thought RE3 was a worthy stand-alone).

Thanks for the advice!

Just clocked in a couple hours of CV and am loving the atmosphere. It looks like there is life outside of Shenmue.... maybe not good, but there's definately some fun to be had!

I'm stuck tho... just gave the twin guns to the kid and he ran off. Now there's a plaque in the shape of sheild and there some panel that needs three hexigonal things put in it.

I think I've searched everywhere and I still haven't found the medicine for that one guy I met in the beginning game.

Little help?

I'd say just explore around because I don't want to explain everything that you have to do...and don't worry about the hexagonal things until you start finding the death masks...just look around and use the map A LOT...thats what i did and i beat the game a little while ago.

The first Resident Evil was pretty weird with the effects and cheesy voice acting, but RE2 and 3 are pretty good. I play Part 2 a lot more because of the two storylines (well, 4 if you play each separately) and I replay it a lot to try out shortcuts (or attempted ones) and strategies (like the next sentence explains).

BTW, am I the only person who uses the knife in the RE games as a weapon from time to time??

Alright... somebody please hook me up with the best Walkthrough out there.

I just got my arse handed to me on a stick and am pretty much out of ammo. Last walkthrough I read was telling me to use a rocket launcher, but fails to say where to get the rocket launcher!

Concerving ammo and staying alive is pretty hard in this game, firt time through. I might have to just start all over again.... which wouldn't be too bad of a thing. I dig the atmostphere.
