ive read every ultimate book and have to say ultimates is such a good book has a very asst cast of characters the latest number 5 is the groups first battle .cap is awsome and the surprise shot by thor really charges this book up.i higly reccomend it and if you havent read earlier editions a tpb is coming out this month.good reading
I agree.
I'm not a fan of the other Ultimate books. I gave them a shot but they just didn't do it for me. This book is fantastic though. Bryan Hitch's art is amazing, second only to Alex Ross. You have to love the "movie-feel" of the art and writing.
I highly recommend it.

The Ultimates rock
But like the Authority I don't think its read a lot on this board.
Oh well
You have to love a book were Irron Man is a Drunk, the Wasp bares boobs to fight crime, Cap kicks a man while they are down and Thor beats the holy crap out of people with the hammer, to quote my dad "like they stole something".
Oh and Giant man isn't a whineing
yep now if they the Black Panther trully a radical African or African American
Treat Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch like the "Passing" token Mutants they are and mak Hawk Eye a pompas butt then I'll say it can only get better.

The book is in the line of Ultimate Marvel books (Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man ), which are basically re-imaginings of the classic Marvel characters for a new fanbase that might not be familiar with the extensive past these books have. Ultimates is really Ultimate Avengers, though why they didn't just call it that is anybody's guess. It features Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, etc. It's drawn by Bryan Hitch (Authority) and written by Mark Millar (Ultimate X-Men).
It's a great read, with awesome art and a more realistic modern-day take on the characters, while remaining faithful to their history.

The Ultimates might be the best book coming out of Marvel.
A movie feel is a VERY accurate summation of the experience of reading the book-- its just GREAT
Cap lays down a beating on the Hulk that I thought looked GREAT
Iron Man's armour malfunctioning was pretty good-- ive always wondered why his other suits dont do that sort of thing
Thor was AWESOME-- Have you tasted enough of Mjolnir yet?
What I think I like the most about this book is the sort of REALISM it brings to the table.
10/10 stars from me
