Maybe this is not a big deal to some of you out there. But I'm a fan. American Beauty and L.A. Confidential are two of my favorite movies. I've seen a bunch of celebreties, but this was really special to me.
He was all scruffy looking. Bleach blond hair, ball cap and old t-shirt. Trying to look like an average schmo. I discreetly let him know that i was a fan and that it was "cool to meet him." He was pleasant and asked me "how I was doin." I could tell from his voice that it was definitely him.
I was on cloud nine the rest of the night.
Anybody here met someone they admire? I know a few of you have met ol' Bruce Timm.
I'd also really like to meet John Cusack.

L.A. Confidential is such a GREAT movie. He would definatly be one of the few people I'd love to meet in real life. John Cusack, Bruce Campbell, Sam Riami, and Bruce Willis are the stars I'd like to meet.

I met Martin "Yan Can Cook" when I was four. Sort of...I kinda hid behind my mother and looked at him from the side. He was waving at me and trying to reassure me that he wasn't going to bite me...

So, does the door on its own count as a degree of separation from Kevin Bacon? :p

Counting near encounters, eh? Well, I've been by the gates to Prince's house in Chanhausen, Minnesota (talked to somebody at a Byerly's near by [an upscale restaraunt where I stopped to eat] and he told stories of how people would pay the guards up to $500.00 just go go and knock on the door. Insane) and I saw Hulk Hogan walking out of the Mall of America one time late at night with his entorage of body guards.

I saw Bryan Adams once, although distanced myself since I can't stand him. And I've met a few Canadian stars, like Gob and OLP backstage. Prety cool.

When I was growing up in Minnesota, there was a popular independent band called the Suburbs and one of their things was they drove around in this old style ambulance from show to show. I saw them driving once on I 35.

I bet my post scared the crap out of Kevin Bacon. Or it would have if he read the boards.
I wasn't "counting near encounters." I just happen to know someone who lives in the same building. Why do people make such a big deal over celebrities? I couldn't care less about Kevin Bacon.

My sister got to meet a football player for the Minnesota Vikings while she worked as a waitress. I don't recall his name, tho!

I've met him, taken a class under him, and have an autographed copy of his volume of poems, Apple Picker's Children. That's maybe about as close to a celebrity as I can come up with. No, wait--I did attend a dinner where a famous telejournalist for KAIT-TV spoke, and I even asked him a query, but his name escapes me for the moment (he's the one with the bit of grey hair in front)....

Well, I saw Rodgir and Kolby from Survivor II at Wonderland on Saturday, when my friends and I took a road trip to Toronto. 'Course neither of them are "real" actors and I don't care for either of them :P
Ooh! I also saw Paul Gross (The mountie on Due South) act in Hamlet at Stratford...I had good seats at the front. The play sucked though.
I also met Alanis Morissette a couple of times when she lived in Ottawa and before she was famous. She used to babysit my friend's older brother.

I got to meet Tom Wopat (Luke Duke of The Dukes of Hazzard) after he did a play in here Portland earlier this year. Loved that show growing up and love the reruns on TNN. Shorter than I thought he would be. Very nice guy and kept telling everyone to buy his CD. :)

All these new responses keep reminding me of more...I got to talk to the pop band the Fixx over the phone one time on one of those Westwood One radio call in shows. Too bad they were basically one hit wonders or that actually might mean something today!
