Sorry for the late report this weekend. Once again, Will Smith holds the number one spot at the box office. For it's second weekend, MIIB brought in an additional $25 million! Pretty impressive for a movie that wasn't quite like the original.
Despite opening in only 1700 theaters the very excellent Road to Perdition brought in and impressive $22.1 million. Go see this movie, it was very good.
And while Road to Perdition opened opened in 1700 theaters, and MIIB continued to stay in 3600 theaters, Reign of Fire opened in 2600 theaters, so this is kind of suprising. Reign of Fire came in third with $16 million. Not too bad.
The bazillionth Halloween movie opened in fourth with $12.3 million. When will the madness stop.
And congratulations to Steve Irwin's The Crocodile Hunter. Crocodile Hunter opened in 6th place with $10 million. And ALL of that $10 million plus what it continues to make will go right into a conservation fund. Congrats again!
With 4 movies opening this weekend, movies were bound to drop far. Both Lilo and Stitch and Minority Report fell to 8th and 9th with around $7 million. Boy the race continues between those two. And Scooby Doo is out of the top 10. Yay! Also out of the top 10 completey is The Powerpuff Girls movie. That didn't stay long did it?
Opening next week is Eight Legged Freaks which opens on Wednesday. Then on Friday Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson star in K-19 The Widow Maker, and Michael J. Fox and pretty much everyone else from the original return in Stewart Little 2.
