Take a look at this article from Yahoo.com:

What are your opinions on it?

I am for cloning, here's why:
Every couple has the right to want to have children. However, not every couple can have children (i.e. infertlie couples). Of course there is always adopting a child/children, but this means that the couples' genes won't be passed on. Cloning there genes and having a child allows this to happen. To some people, passing there genes is very important.
Cloning can also help cure many diseases. Being able to clone human cells allow scientists to do research and test for new cures.

I like it within limits. I'm not exactly sure I'd be thrilled with the idea of creating two of one person JUST BECAUSE IT'S COOL, but for medical purposes such as disease or such it seems like a good idea. Still, "using" clones as "cures" does raise ethical issues concerning human rights of clones.
And trust me, a lot of scientists out there would clone Einstein or Shakespeare if they could find a way to, just because it would BE COOL to them.
I personally think it's impossible to make an exact replica (not just in appearance but in thought, behaviour and beliefs) of a person because people are shaped more by their environment than by their genes, IMHO.

Cloning because its cool is NOT COOL . There should be some resrtaints so that we don't have Einsteins, Shakespeares, or even Hitlers.
By cloning, only genes are exact copies, personality is really determined by the environment you grow up in.
Also, from what I have read, the procedure would cost so much, that very very very few people would be able to afford it.

It all depends on who is being cloned and why.

They should clone tigers then kill them for their coat, and let the real tigers live.
For humans, they should only if they can perfect the procedure. If they can do it without harsh side effects, go for it. It's not that bad.

I agree. We should also clone humans and then kill them for their organs. Then we can let the "real" humans live.

That would open the door for animal activists to throw cloned blood at them.
Think I'm being absurd? Remember when some celebs were wearing fake furs? The activists then started throwing fake blood at them.

This genetic engineering stuff freaks me out, but I'll support if ONLY if scientist can engineer me my own Chocobo. Do that, and I'm okay with it.
Because that would be cool.

I would've voted yes but I don't think they're a threat to the world...
We just have no need for Human Clones... Individuality comes in humanity, and vice versa. A Clone would be a replica, in which they just really have no point because what they're replicating has already been done by another individual.
Cloning organs though, from one's DNA with a bit of genetic tampering to make them stronger so they won't fail like the original would I think be much better though, instead of waiting for someone else to die, just to save another life with the slight chance that they have exactly what is needed. This could also possibly work to help people breed I think...
Also possibly cloning animals to saved endangered species might be a good idea also, not a whole population of course, but enough of that animal to go about where they can breed with others of their species or other clones...or give some competition to a "real" animal of that species and so the mating cycle would be able to kick in instead of just "waiting for them to make a move".

I'm against cloning although I can see why in certain circumstances, such as for diseases and such. However there's alot of ethical issues that raise concerns for me.
I read a very interesting article in TIME magazine a year ago on this. One such theory they raised was in the future if we can clone people, what is to stop someone who loses a loved one to clone them to bring them back? What rights would a person have after they die?
Also, I have problems with cloning a human being in general. It seems too much like playing God in creating life. I can totally understand a couple's need to have children and pass on their genes, but it's still not really their child, it's a test tube baby.
These are just my 2cents.

I agree with the last part if it will help people live longet than go for it. But to clone another human just because you can is wrong if you can't have a kid adopt there are lots of kids out there who need a parent. If you can't have any and don't want to adopt then you have a problem. If invetro dosen't work then it most likey wasn't ment to be.

i think cloning could be useful in helping people who need organs.nuff said.

Just say no. I've personally never liked the idea of cloning, and I'll leave it at that...

I think we should clone Larry and sell the clones as pinatas. They could replace those little coosh balls as stress relievers.

I see no moral issue with cloning. Nobody here is debating the fact that the clone will be a unique individual from the original, so what's the real problem?
The only potential issue I see is "cloning people because it's cool". The decision to clone should be made by a set of parents prepared to love and nurture Einstein v2.0. It should not be by a group of scientists to be raised in a laboratory.

I think cloning is okay on animals cause if we clone them they could never go extinct but not on humans.

Two of my old girlfriends got together once and basically said the same thing as you did. There wasn't much else I could do but eat my taco and smile like an idiot that day.

No, I don't believe clong should be banned. Think of all the medical applications it could have, and all the lives that could be saved.
That goes for only plants and animals, though. Where humans are concerned, I think that it's just too tough a call. Human life is a fragile thing already in God's hands, so just imagine how fragile it is in a human's hands. Besides, all the problems with keeping these people in check, the legalities of the situation, and all that, are far too complicated. Besides, humans weren't meant to live forever or be cloned...we're not a loaf of bread or a fish or something. :P
The world's resources are hardly enough for everyone that lives here that have been born by natural means. Adding even more people into this equation isn't going to help any.
And my closing argument is...do we REALLY need two of me?

They should combine human and dog DNA to create a real-life wookiee.
