This is one of my favorite old school cartoons. This show had to be one of the greatest inspirations for americans to be geared towards video games. It was about your average gamer (nerd who lives in his house 24/7) named Kevin and his dog who were sucked into Kevin's TV and sent to a world called Video Land where he met the ruler Princess Lana. She needed Kevin to be her guardian and help her defeat the evil Mother Brain from Metroid. He was also aided by fellow video game characters like Kid Icarus "Pit" from Kid Icarus, Simon Belmont from Castlevania, Mega Man from Mega Man, Samus from Metroid, Little Mac from Punch Out, Bayou Billy from The Adventures of Bayou Billy, Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda, Mario and Luigi from Mario Bros/ Super Mario Bros, and a Game Boy. They travel to different lands like Tetris Land where everyone is shaped like blocks, Mega Land where Mega Man lives, Castlevania where Dracula and Alucard live, and Jungle Land where Donkey Kong lives. The weardest thing about the show was their impression on how each character looked. For example Mega Man was very small and green, Simon dressed like a mountain climber and a backpack full of all sorts of junk and he had a fruity attitude, Count Dracula looked more like the Joker because of the cover from the first Castlevana, and Bayou Billy looked more like Crocodile Dundee on drugs. I don't know why this show hasn't been put onto DVD or back on Saturday Mornings yet, but once you see it you'll first go "Man those were some gay one liners" but then you'll say "that was a weird and entertaining comparison to the real game."
Also for the video gamers out there, there are many other great show that were video games turned into shows.
Bigfoot (Bigfoot was with a guy from Arch Riavles, the guy from NARC, a Tomato with sunglasses from a Game Boy game while battling the boss from NARC and the boss from that Tomato game)
Pole Position (It was more like Spy Hunter with kids)
Double Dragon
Earthworm Jim
Super Mario Bros Super Show (also had a SMB3 cartoon)
Legend of Zelda ("Well excuse me princess.")
Sonic the Hedgehog ( also Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog/Sonioc Jam/ and an anime movie)
