The Demon Headmaster series

Has anyone seen this series or read the books? They're meant for children but are fairly good. The first book is about a young girl called Dina Hunter going to live with a foster family. There's something odd going on at the local school The Headmaster has the ability to hypnotise smart people. His plan is to use this to take over the world and bring order. A gang of average students (including Dina's two 'brothers') are not effected by the hypnosis. When they learn from Dina what is going on, they hatch a plan to stop him

The later books have his plans getting bigger. So, anyone familiar with this series?

I've seen some of the TV adaptation. It was rather good for a children's show. I'd recommend it if you can find it! I'm sure it's on the imdb if you are looking for details. It did get a retail release I'm sure....
