View Full Version : I think Cartoon Network should do this:

Remember when Toonami started out? It was dedicated to older, action cartoons and showing them again in primetime. Then it morphed into the Anime Block, with Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon leading the pack. So that's where Toonami is now: It's the Anime Block.

I'd like CN to make a second Block of cartoons dedicated to older action Cartoons that need to see the light of day again. I came up with this idea when pondering why GI Joe got stuck at 1 am in the morning. If they created a new block dedicated to reruns of classic action cartoons, we could get to see Thundercats, GI Joe, G-Force, Voltron, all over again! Maybe since it's reruns, they would give it a bad timeslot, but I think a Block of Action Cartoons would be a great, new attraction to this network!

Now what should it be called...Action Flashback? Action Timewarp? I'd make it for 2 hours...but CN might make it for 1.

With GI Joe airing at 1 AM I think an hour block of action oriented 80's toons would be the perfect compliment to the Midnight Run. For right now I would say make the series one hour and include GI Joe followed by ThunderCats. Later they could expand the block by an hour or rotate some of the shows involved swapping in Transformers and (hopefully) He-Man around the time the new shows would begin airing. Either way CN has shown that they understand the 80's resurgance and is trying to get more and more of these shows on the air.

I think it would be a lot better for non-Toonami and Saturday Adult Swim hours than the umpteenth rerun of Cartoons Cartoons or Scooby Doo. (Incidently, I think someone should bring back Galaxy Rangers. I believe it to rank among the best of the 1980s shows.)

For that matter, I think they should move Hamtaro off Toonami and have it anchor a block of similar shows. I can think of several other themes they could build cartoon blocks around that would take away the monotony of their daytime lineups.

YES!!!! Someone else who thinks we should kick hamtaro off of toonami. I mean I know it has brought excellent ratings but toonami=ACTION NOT CUTSEY STUFF. Come on CN for pete's sake get rid of hamtaro from the toonami line-up.

I think they should make it a Sunday morning block with GI-Joe, G1 Transformers, Voltron, Robotech, Johnny Quest, Superfriends, Thundercats, etc. They have something like that from 3-5 after Adult Swim Action (not too many great shows on there, but it's a start), but I think they need to expand that to 3-10 and show some Transformers, GI-Joe, Robotech, etc.
