Since ive been unable to view this site for ages, heres some things I would have posted:

-Samurai jack. This show looks awesome. But kids probably just "wont get it" and itll die off...

-Planet of the apes.I personally loved it,including the ending.

-Invader Zim.New episodes start friday of the next week, the 17th.If you havent seen this show, you MUST.Its dark, twisted and artistic with a lot of hilarious lines and a little bit of character developement already starting to show after only six episodes.

-Futurama.Anyone know if/when new episodes are starting? I havent heard much about another season...I hope its not cancelled.

-Monsters,inc.I want to see this movie.

-Ice age.I saw a teaser trailer for this, but have never heard of it before.Anyone know whos making it/what its all about?

Thats about everything.

Why not? It looks like an exciting series. And it's on cable, so it's not like it's fighting it out on Sat AM. I predict a solid hit, maybe even PPG level.

It's GREAT to see you around more Sting! This board just isn't the same without you, and that aint no cliche.

And come to think of it, I agree with him about Samurai Jack. It looks like an absolutely wonderfull show, but something inside me is also worried it won't hit with the audiance that it's "directed to" and we'll lose yet another brilliant show.

Forgive us, Larry, it's just that we animation fans have been treated like crap for so long, it tends to bitter you, sometimes adding a pesemistic edge to your opinion. :o (at least, that's MY take on his opinion about Samurai Jack anyway)

(and if Invader Zim is as dark and intelligent as you say, Stingy, I might just check it out because you paint quite a picture there)

Heres a nice little detailed description/review of zim from another board I go to:

"The story is about Zim,an alien invader sent on a phony "secret mission" to uncharted space by his people, who just want to get rid of him.He winds up discovering earth, which his race neither knew nor cared about, and naturally assumes that this is the world he has been sent to conquer. He disguises himself as a human child and goes to grade school to learn our weaknesses (but this is no "recess!" very little of the show takes place in the school) His enemy is a kid named Dib who`s obsessed with the paranormal and badly wants to expose zim as an alien and be a hero, mainly so his father (a brilliant scientist and beloved children`s show host) will finally notice him (this hasnt been explored much in the show yet, this is just what the creator has said) He also has an extremely antisocial sister whos immersed at all times in video games.

The music is very modern, the animation is great (if a bit jagged and sharp-edged) and the plots and dialogue are extremely bizarre. In one episode, zim wants to appear more human and attempts to do so by collecting the body organs of other children (replacing them with random objects such as a soda can,a live kitten and a kazoo) until he becomes an immensely bloated sack of body parts. In another the earth is being hijacked by a race of extremely stupid aliens who seem to think they must throw planets into their sun as "firewood".

Zim`s homeworld is particularly interesting. His people are grown in tubes, spend all their time enslaving other worlds, and judge one another by height. My favorite scene would be in the first episode, where the leaders of his race, the "almighty tallers",send the shortest of the invaders on a mission to "the planet of murderous rats" while the tallest invader gets to conquer "the planet of the giant comfortable couch".You can tell how Zim`s people judge one another.

The only problem: its another of those shows that does two 15-minute segments without much in the way of continuity."

...The only thing this description leaves out is Zim`s robot,G.I.R.,who is,without a doubt, one of the most impossibly adorable characters of any cartoon (and not in a terribly obtrusive way like so many other "sidekicks")

Glad yer back, pal! Planet of The Apes did rock, eh? I thought it was a definite hi light in the year of summer movies, and I hope it makes at least $200 million, which is very likely will. The movie definatly deserves it. And it cries for a sequel.

Agreed, an awesome movie all the way thru, Tim Burton does it again....

And as for Futurama, doesn't it start back in November with all the other shows?

The Futurama season premiere unfortunately starts on December 9th. It's pushed back that far cuz of football or baseball. So far 72 episodes have been ordered and only 44 have aired. So there's still a few left. :)

Dang, Mr. Eye beat me to it. Yup, Futurama won't be coming till Dec. 9. For some unknown reason, Fox is spreading out all their premieres from September to, er, Dec. 9.

And if anyone cares, the Tick premieres Nov. 1.

It's because of sports. Futurama is on very early so it would be interuppted by baseball. And I think he Simpsons season premiere is on November 5th.

Oh no.

Sam. Jack is way over-promoted on CN. I hope that if the show is sucessful that they don't over-market it. Sure, they got away with it on PPG, but over-marketing and showing too many promos during Acme Hour will turn off many potential viewers. Don't kill the Golden Goose!!!

....I do not have Cartoon Network, but I still hear hype on it in magazines and the net, and now that you mention it, it does seem a bit overhyped. I still have faith in Tartovsky, though. He created Dexter's lab and greatly influenced PPgirls-he can make a hit for a third time!

Simpsons premier Nov. 1?! NO! Another Halloween eppy being shown AFTER Halloween! Stupid, stupid, stupid! What's up with sports?! And DECEMBER is Futurama's starting month?! Geez...Fox needs to get thier priorities straight...

If Sam. Jack has any cool action like I think it does, people will come. Quality *action* sells. Period.

The halloween special should air before that date. But it's not considered the official season premiere.

Since we were on the topic of FOX TV shows, I figured I'd bring this one up. Anybody heard what this season is all about? I heard they've change the look quite a bit...

People will be so tired of the constant advertising that they won't have any interest in seeing it by the time the show premieres.
