Have you ever had a day that started out fairly good and then took a sudden left turn straight down the toilet? Just had one today. I went online as usual, I had a nice lunch, I showered, shaved, and dressed; I found a check from Freeloto in my mailbox for a dollar. I took my usual walk to the post office to send off some manuscripts and buy ms.-size envelopes, which was pleasant, relaxing and healthful as always.
So then it happens. My idiot brother's dog, who used to follow me frequently on p.o. visits, starts running out onto the highway. He was loyal, but not bright. A pickup truck struck him with a noise like a slegehammer hitting a sack of damp dirty laundry. I determined he was a loss; he was weak, fighting to breathe, and no doubt had internal bleeding. The driver kindly stopped and assisted me in moving him off the road, and offered to either give me a hammer to bash in his skull with (neither of us had a gun) or take the body out to the river (as he was still alive, I declined, and besides, if we'd beeen caught we'd probably be fined for dumping him into the water). Spike was still gasping for breath on the roadside when I left.
I hate to feel inhumane, and I like to feel responsible for something bad even less. If I'd had envelopes on hand at the house, that big dumb fleabrain'd still be alive now. The heck and the crap of it it is, I didn't care about Spike, and my brother cared even less for him. Still, I'm carrying some sense of culpability on my shoulders.

Right now, no, not really. For one thing people may like me, but my opinions really don't matter, everywhere I go! Sure my friends pretend like my opinions matter, but they really don't, nobody really cares about the issues that matter to me. All they talk about is these stupid boys they like, who are your typical generic boy, who is exactly the same as every other, so why they don't like the whole population of boys at our school I don't know. And my best friend is like millions of miles away from me, so I am having best friend withdrawal, because I don't have anybody I can really talk to. And while I was drowning myself in self pity today, my friend called and told me that she went up the hill to Show Low today to get some basic supplies, and since they were native, people did nasty things to their car, they sliced their tires, and wrote all over the windows with shaving cream thanks for the burning of our land, and I thought to myself my god I am so pathetic, my friends who are having actual problems, and here I am feeling sorry for myself, making me feel more pathetic. And here I go on and on about how I wish just one fricken person would listen to me and actually talk to me about the issues that I want to talk about, and acknowledge the fact that I actually have something to say...
wow that felt really good to leak that, even though you are all a bunch of strangers, it really made me feel better.
