With all of the recent hype regarding a Teen Titans Animated Series I did some digging and found out that HB had originally proposed a TT animated series back in the late 80's. Here (http://www.titanstower.com/source/info/animatedntt.html) is a cel that shows what the team would have looked like in the series (scroll down to the bottom of the page). This was actually a 30 second anti-drug commercial that was produced before the show began production.

Thoughts?

Speaking of which, Comic Book Resources, has a downloadable movie of the Teen Titans opening theme, in RM format. As well as a Mp3 download. Check it out. (http://www.comicbookresources.com/resources/tvthemes/)

That's weird - it just worked for me when I tried it - crazy web-links....

Here's the site so that if the above link doesn't work you can cut and paste it in:

It seems like the New Teen Titans shouldn't be very different from the 80's one. Thanks for the link.

*Gasp* how could they have had Kory(Starfire), and not Nightwing, or at least Dick as Robin?! Still, it's a pretty cool looking "what if".

I thought that I remembered occasionally seeing a version of the Teen Titans on CN a few years back during The Superman/Batman Adventures (not to be confused with Batman Superman Adventures). This show contained the old Filmation toons of Supes, Bats and others. I did a search and found out that I was right! Read about it here. (http://lavender.fortunecity.com/clockwork/616/teen.htm)

If you have access to Boomerang, you might be able to see the Superman/Batman Adventures and catch some of these classic TT toons, featuring the original team.

It's kind of weird, but all in all I think it's ok.

The series was being planned a long time before Robin became Nightwing, and since Robin was currently under the Super Friends, the Titans series was going to have Wonder Girl as team leader.

The story I heard as to why the Titans series never got off the ground in the 80s was because the team behind the Titans proposal did such a good job that the execs rejected the show and used the team to revive the “old school” SuperFriends show into the Super Powers Team (whether the Titans pitch would be considered successful is still up for debate). The Cyborg character used in SPT was the exact same designs from the original Titans proposal. The same team also did the drug awareness spot.

And the mysterious seventh member in the cel is a hastily created character called the Protector, from the Drug Awareness Comics series. The first of the comic series originally used Robin and was sponsored by Keebler. However, the Robin character was currently licensed to Nabisco (anyone remember those Chips Ahoy packages with Robin on them?) at the time, so the character had to be chaged at the 11th hour, with inker Dick Giordano having to quickly come up with a replacement costume. According to George Perez, if you hold the original pages up to the light, you’ll see the Robin costume under all the whiteout.

And no, the Protector was not going to be in the original Titans series. He was added to the drug awareness spot to tie the ad to the comics.

I have part of that commercial recorded on a tape from a long time ago. It's pretty cool. Cyborg bases through a wall among other things...

I didn't think it was possible, but the Protector costume looked even more ridiculous than Robin's.

I remember these episodes from when I first watched them on the Superman Aquaman Hour of Adventure. I was laughing really hard at "The Great Space-Beast Roundup" -- especially at the scene where Wonder Girl seems to have been felled by a monster's bad breath.
