OT: In the "long going tradition" of the What If You Were Given Control?- Superman, Batman, JLA, World's Finest, The Brave and The Bold, and Annuals threads, I have comprised the ultimate What If You Were Given Control? thread. No, this thread isn't about what you would do with one of Marvel's Ultimate titles. In this thread I am going to ask what they would do if they were to be given a twelve issue run on the comic book of your choice. It can be a Marvel book, a DC book, a Dark Horse book, whatever. It's your choice.

My Book Of Choice: JLA

Okay. I'll bite.

I'd tackle Captian America. What story? I have no idea, but I know right away that'd be the book I'd take.

I do know I'd bring back U.S.Agent in it though...

I'd tackle perhaps on of the most hated characters in recent memory - the Scarlet Spider. My penciler for this book would have to be none other than Mark Bagley.

Issue #1

It's been at least two years since anyone has seen or heard from Ben Reily - this issue begins the return of a new legend. Setting up base in the city of Seattle Ben tries to make a new life for himself - away from his 'brother' Pete and everyone in his past.

Issue #2

After finally finding a temp job at the local McD's Ben begins his search for a job when he here's about an attack near one Seattle's docks. Upon arrival he finds a former foe reaking havok - Hydro-Man.

Issue #3

The fight with Hydro-Man concludes as Ben learns about a plot by a local corporation to do genetic expiraments. The plot gets even more interesting as Ben finds out that the company is also owned by his one time foe and murderer - Norman Osborn. Also a certain lost love makes her return.

Issue #4

Ben begins his investigation of Zaptica Industries and runs accross a new foe - the Man-Shark. Also the dreaded clone degeneration disease finally begins to reek havok upon Ben.

Issue #5

Ben is at a cross roads - when Kaine comes to Seattle he offers Ben something he never expected - a cure. With all the bad blood between these two can he truly be trusted?

Issue #6

Ben must decide to take the cure or not and he collapses while fighting the Man-Shark. Kaine, who had been following Ben, saves Ben from further brutualization by defeating the Man-Shark. Also Gwen Stacy and Ben finally have a chance to talk about a past that was never theirs but a spark that remains between them.

Issue #7

Gwen is stricken with the degeneration disease and Ben uses the cure on her - foregoing his own salvation. Making one last trip to the Zaptica Industries Ben finds something he never thought he would see again - a symbiote.

Issue #8

Ben bonds with the symbiote as a final cure and runs accross an enemy that he faced years ago - while he was wondering for five years. This powerful enemy has decided that this new Scarlet Spider must pay and to make Seattle his new base of operations. This will lead the way to a continuing story arc as Ben finally shuts down Zaptiac and their genetic expiraments.

This is just a rough idea of some of the stuff I would do as this seems to be going a lot slower than it would in actuality.

Some other series that I would attempt to take on would be Aztek with Scott McDaniel as my penciler, Wolverine with Jeff Matsuda, Silver Surfer with Joe Mad! and Iron Man with Sean Chen.
