I vote for "Rabbit of Seville" not only because it is a very funny cartoon, the music is just great! One of Carl Stalling's best! I've heard the familiar "Barber of Seville" music in many cartoons, but Stalling's rendition is by far the best!
My runner up vote would be "Tom & Jerry in the Hollywood Bowl". Not the best as a cartoon, but Scott Bradley's music ranks right up there with Carl Stalling.

It was a hard choice, but my vote went to "Barber of Seville". That simply is Woody Woodpecker's finest hour, and the timing of the music is great. One of the funniest moments is Woody using a flame thrower and begins singing "Figaro".
Runner-ups for me would be:
"The Poet and the Peasant"-This is another example of perfect timing, and an outstanding piece of animation.
"Rabbit of Seville"-If "Barber of Seville" wasn't on the list, I would've voted for this. I LOVE Bugs' singing in this one.
"Symphony Hour"-This cartoon is a little underated, never considered on one of Mickey's "best lists". A VERY funny plot, in which Mickey and pals are performing at a concert for Pete (known in this one as Sylvester Maccaroni), and Goofy gets all of the instruments crushed by an elevator. So the gang uses them any way! Very funny scene of Mickey shoving a gun in Donald's face to change his mind about leaving.
"The Band Concert"-Another Mickey Mouse cartoon with great gags, the highlight being Donald playing "Turkey in the Staw" on his flute, and Mickey's band joining in.

I had to go with the true classic concert....
The Poet And The Pleasant-This is an excellent cartoon short, the great music mixed with the comedy (with no dialog) as Andy Panda plays the musical condtuctor of a barnyard concert, is just a laugh out loud cartoon.
One mishap after another, while some of the band members can't to be inysc with each other, one member getting his head flattened with a pair of cymbals by Andy, when he catches him alseep with his violin playing a very long sour note.
And my favorite scene in the cartoon, is where an annoying little squirel keeps bugging (talking through out the concert) a pig who's eating popcorn, and to the point that pig shuts up the squirel 's mouth like a zipper.
And the dancing dizzy ducks towards the end of the picture who outwit a fox, and the end where the cat bashes Andy over the head with a large mallot ending the cartoon.
To me, this my all time favorite cartoon concert, and it's truly a masterpiece and one of Lant'z best cartoon shorts of all time.:D

It's a very funny cartoon, and the words used fit the cartoon perfectly.

I was going to mention it - especially since "Cat Concerto" was there...
I went for "Rabbit of Seville" also. A true masterpiece in so many ways!
I noticed the absence of the Freleng masterpiece too, I would have replaced "Baton Bunny" with "Rhapsody Rabbit."
I also voted for "Rabbit of Seville," the music flows beautifully, it's one of Stallings best adaptations and sounds like it was written FOR the cartoon. "Rabbit of Seville" was made when Jones' timing was at it's best (IMO), the animation is top notch too especially on Bugs when he sings and does stuff to Elmer's head(again IMO), and it's a very good looking cartoon, a beautiful production at every level.

Neither "Rhapsody Rabbit" nor my personal favorite, "Pigs in a Polka" made it -- what, does this poll have an anti-Freleng bias of something? ;)
(And is also doesn't have "The Mad Maestro" the 1939 Hugh Harman cartoon that has too good a sense of comedy timing for Harmon to have directed, so that's probably another Freleng toon left off the list)

All I was given was Ten choices for this poll, and I felt what was truly the best cartoon concert. But there was so (and I do mean so) many cartoons out there. and it wasn't an easy choice on what cartoons to pick.
Sorry Fellas:(
At first I had assumed "Pigs In A Polka" didn't make it to the list because it didn't take place in a concert hall, or wasn't "conducted" as it if it were in one (Like "Rhapsody In Rivets" was), but then I remembered "Barber of Seville" took place in a barber shop. I don't know if I could have chosen "Rabbit of Seville" so easily if "Rhapsody Rabbit" and "Pigs In A Polka" were on there, though.
It's still a good poll, I like that you included cartoons from various studios.

Yep, John and Jack are so right, "The Mad Maestro", "Pigs In a Polka" and of course "Rhapsody Rabbit" are incredible. Annnnnnd we're all forgetting about another true masterpiece of concert cartooning...
Tex Avery's ""The Magical Maestro"

I really liked "A corny corcerto" but that wasn't there so "Tom and Jerry at the hollywood bowl" had to win

The Mad Maestro, being a '30s MGM cartoon, is not very good to me.
Many people, such as me, have only been exposed to the edited version of Magical Maestro, so I'm glad that didn't make the list.
Pigs in a Polka is good for an early '40s musical, but couldn't even come close to The Rabbit of Seville. I could say the same thing about A Corny Concerto.
As for Rhapsody Rabbit, as far as Bugs Bunny goes, it is not as good as a certain 1950 cartoon.
Well, that's just your opinion, Sveven. J. Lee even said "Pigs In A Polka" was his personal favorite, and I think it's not just good for an early 40s cartoon, but a great Looney Tune/Merrie Melodie cartoon. Personally, I don't think "Baton Bunny" should be up there, it has good music, but I think the timing, gags, layout, and animation aren't good. I consider it a weak Bugs Bunny short, but that's only my opinion.
