I liked this one, but at the same time, it just doesn't get as high up there as many of the others I've seen so far.
This episode starts out with another great "what's going on here?" type situation. At first you just think Supes is being a little corny today with his advice to the kids. Then 'he' saves Clark from falling and there are several questions. Is Clark having a dream? Is someone else having a dream? Are we in a parallel universe of some sort? There are many possibilities. Then Clark walks off and rips open his shirt and you know that all is normal, but it isn't.
I liked how the cops are chasing the bad guys and Lois is chasing the story. It does a great job of showing the kind of reporter she is.
Tim Daly did a good job in his turn as the Superman clone. I could barely tell it was him, but at the same time it only makes sense for him to do the voice—giving it just a hint of the voice he had when he was first "born."
By the end I really felt for Bizarro and his inner turmoil about who and what he is. When he saves Superman and Lois, it means he has truly become a hero.

Yep, 4 stars from me as well. It would be nice to see an episode that doesn't have a "save everyone before the place explodes" ending. Those are getting tiresome. Everything else here was fine.

ME AM REALLY HATE THIS EPISODE!
An awesome episode. This introduces one of my favorite Superman villians - Bizarro! This episode and the follow-up Bizarro episode are two of my favorite episodes. The animation in the episode is very well done, and ya gotta love those tanks full of those creepy Superman clones...

This has to at least be a challenger for one of Tim's most dialogue heavy shows of the season maybe the series. He definitely earned his check with that ep. :D
I thought it did a good job of reintro-ing one of Supes most well-known foes in a serious although a bit overdone way.
The ep succeeds in getting you to see him in another way then just comedy relief villan that he's been branded with in past incarnations by at first giving him Supes identity and showing he actually was making a good run at putting the Man of Steel out of a job, then suddenly stripped of all that and having no identity of his own the audience can't help but feel sorry for the guy and he becomes sort of a tragedy.

4.5 out of 5 from me. Once again the animated Superman gives us a brilliant hybrid of Superman continuity. Yeah the good vs evil thing of the Superfriends Superman vs Bizzaro was cool, but SupermanTAS really made you think. Instead of making a villain for Clark, Bizzaro is just as much an outcast as Cark himself is. Taken from his home and placed in another, not sure who he is, where he came from, or his purpose.
And of course the animation, dialogue and story pushed this episode extremely well. Great job! Now shut up and get on DVD! :p

Aside from the bad grammar, which is like fingernails on a blackboard to me, this was really enjoyable. I really liked Mercy harrassing Bizarro - "If the shoe fits handsome" LOL! And then after Bizarro flies through the roof Lex tells her it's coming out of her check. That was a great scene.
But why does Bizarro's costume turn purple when he de-evolves - it's not like it was an organic part of his body, or was it?

That's the truth! And you know what? I didn't even find out Tim had voiced Bizarro until a few years ago! :o . . . :p Well, it just goes to show what a great job he did.
Another favorite ep of mine. (I sure have a lot of favorites, don't I? :p )
I really felt sorry for Bizarro. He was so confused; when he tried to be helpful, he was just being a nuisance. He thinks he's the real Superman; that's the only identity he knows, and he doesn't want that to be taken away. But at the end, when he realized that Supes was in fact the real one and not he, he was still willing to risk his life.
This ep had excellent animation ( I don't know which company animated it) and a great story. 5 stars.

A strong opening and a weak finish. I couldn't beleive what I was seeing at first. The producers did a great job with this sequence, but as it goes on it gets silly. Gee Superman your a great detective. She only left that tape recorder, like, right there in plain sight. How did you ever find that clue? I would have preferred a truly backward Superman from Bizzaro World over the clone, who's basicly "The Incredible Flying Hulk." The ending was riddled with cliche's Lois getting her leg caught under something heavy so Superman can lift it. The mentally challenged villain having a heart of gold. Holding up the collapsing structure while for those that misunderstood him to escape alive. I was waiting for the line "Sloth love Chunk." but it never happened. I will give this cred for the total mindscrew of the begining, and some great scenes of Bizzarro causing Superman trouble, while thinking he's helping. The flying crane w/ wrecking ball was hilarious. "Don't ask me, I just catch 'em."

If you clone someone they will start out as a baby, so Lex would have had to clone Superman we as on Krypton for ths to e possible. When he transformed back to Bizzaro the whole costume changed. What was that?

I just love Lex in this episode, I think the quote goes something like this..
Lois: Somebody's cloning Superman, I wonder who could be behind this?
Lex: Why me of course.

Because he wasn't wearing a costume. After all, no one knew if he is in disguise the rest of the time or not.

I can't believe Mercy was making fun of Bizarro. I know she's a hardass but that was uncalled for.

This one started out great. It really had you confused as to just what the heck was going on. Even when Bizaro started to break down and he started to get white I wasn't sure what was going on until he completely Bizaroed out.
And of course Lex was behind it all. Who else would be? Even in his own words, "why me of course."
I really do like what they did with Bizaro, turning a goof ball character into a tragic character.
The recorder and the end was a little cliche' ridden for me so I took a star off for that but still great over all.

This is one of the reasons I like Superman more than Batman.
Now, when I first watched this, at the beginning, I didn't know what was going on. It just seemed Superman was acting way too corny, but it made perfect sense when it turns out he was Bizzaro. Mercy was a little mean to him, though.
Biazzaro, in my opinion, isn't one of those villains who is upsessed in killing Superman. He's just a little confused. He's among one of my favorite Superman villains, along with Lex and Parasite.
I give the episode **** stars.

I think Superman REALLY missed an opportunity here. When he showed up at Bizarro and Lois's date he should NOT have told her Bizarro was the one she had made the date with as she was with Clark at the time. He should have said that Bizarro found out about it and that HE was the one who made the date because if he had she would have actually seen Clark and Superman at the same time. Kara kinda fixed this in Legacy with the Superman robot but something tells me that that was kind of nullified.:p
A really good episode. Bizarro is awesome as voiced by Tim Daly (Still pissed b.t. didn't hire Mr. Daly back to voice him in Ultimatum) and really comes across as a confused hero rather than a villian. Sure, the end may have been a little corny but I think the episode had earned the ending by that point.
The episode scores bonus points for Lex being at his nastiest here AND a little kid saying that Superman is a dork. That had to be the funniest line against an Icon since Last Son of Krypton's "That nut in Gotham City".
"You really ARE a hero." Aaaaww! :crying: ****.

I would pay through the nose to see tapes of Daly at his Bizarro recording sessions.

I remember watching this when it was on originally and been suprised when Superman saved Clark Kent. Loved the whole episode from beginning to end, you get the feeling Tim Daly has alot of fun with Bizarro. 4.5/5
