I think Superman in JL best showed his strength, wit, and leadership in Blackest Night Part 1. The following will contain spoilers of the episode so take note that you've been warned.
When Superman first flew in to take down the Manhunter's he showed similar strengths I would've come to expect to see in STAS... which I am very happy about. He displayed a sense of invulnerability without humiliating his ability to BE Superman, whereas in other episodes he seems paper frail, yet the Manhunter's were able to take counter striking shots to him as well.

I agree completely. In fact, even though I have this episode on tape I saw it again twice on CN (in recent days) just for that scene. It's awesome!

I also agree with Superman in "In Blackest Night".

I think Superman showed his strength more in "The Call" then anywhere else...he never held back...

I think that, chronologically, somewhere between "Legacy" and "The Call" (in Season 2 of JL, perhaps? :D), Superman learned that holding back his power level out of fear of losing control was doing him and his fellow JL members more harm than good in the long run...

Batman Beyond is an Elseworld. Deal with it.

Even though I don't like this episode much I have to agree with you.

Don't know why JLL has to deal with it. But JLL we were talking about Justice League eps, not Batman Beyond. Anyhoo, In Blackest Night, Supes did indeed, better than any of the other eps, so far, really showed himself in his best way. In strength, intelligence, and leadership. Can't wait to see how his character does in the new eps.

I am REALLY getting tired of people saying that...just because it's in the future doesn't mean it's an Elseworld's story...it's a possible future...not an elseworlds.

The way Superman dealt with Mongul in "War World" was almost bordering on arrogant. He openly defies him in front of his people. Then, the comment he makes to the other prisoners about Mongul, something like "I've dealt with others like him. I'll take my chances." The scene in Mongul's headquarters when Supes seems to almost be toying with Mongul..."That wasn't your name they were chanting out there, it was mine..." Finally, during his fight with Mongul, he half-heartedly fought back to make the "battle" look convincing and, when he learned of the death ray being destroyed, changed his demeanor for that split second, making all of us think he'd finally let it out on Mongul, until Draaga messed that all up. The line "Then all bets are off...You're mine" was actually pretty cool.
He was good in "In Blackest Night", which was probably his best overall performance. Even though "War World" was disappointing, the things I mentioned really stand out for me.

In War World Pt. 2, the way the fight scene was coordinated, it really seemed like a slapping contest between Superman, Draaga, and Mongul. There was little strategy used, and it just seemed that each of them were just equally exchanging punches and that's it. Keep in mind I wasn't expecting bullet-time kung fu fighting or anything, but I think you'll agree with me when I say we've seen Superman fight better.
I generally like the War World episodes... it just seems like there was a potential moment for Superman to shine and give us some of his best, but they didn't seem to meet what I was expecting. In a way, it seemed like they were recreating a sort of intergalactic "Gladiator" replacing the "Spaniard" with the "Kryptonian" I'm just hoping Superman become's utilized better in future episodes... use more than just super strength and make use of his other super qualities.

Oooh, we have a deep Superman fan thinker in our midst! And frankly I like it. Granted showing Superman's imense strength in that Gladiator-like episode WAS awesome, but I guess it sorta was just exchanging punches when it came to Mongul and Clark fighting.
But I think that was partly because Superman did what I personally don't approve of in superhero fights, and that's hold back. His strength was all powerfull, but he lacked strategy, and I think his arrogance, as mentioned above, made him slack off a bit.
(Now I'm a big Marvel vs Capcom and Super Smash Brothers fan, and let me tell you that is NOT what you want to do EVEN IF you've got the upper hand! You might regret it. :p)
I'm thinking this because notice when fighting Draaga there was a slight bit more than just punching and getting punched.

I completely agree with you, Beyond Batman. When I was watching that episode the other day, and I was thinking, "Umm, how come he's not like this in all the time." I think he was shown at his best in JL in that episode. In fact, the first part of "In Blackest Night" isn't too bad. The second part . . . well, that's another matter.
