First I have to sit through this suicide inducing "Belch-a-thon" to watch the PPGs and POKéMON but then I see a commercial for next saturday and there will be no POKéMON at all??!
This has got to be like the first time in years WB hasn't had POKéMON on a saturday and it's just sad.
I see a ratings failure coming next weekend. FOX may even do better lol as if.
Only reason I can see that lack of POKéMON for is so three 3 of the WBs crappyest shows don't get outshined by POKéMON as usual. And the only reason PPGs is apart of the lineup is for movie promotion duh.
Lousy WB is always screwing us POKéMON fans and this is just another example. -_-
First off, calm down. Second, you can vote for "Pokemon" on KidsWB.com. The winners air next week.

The Powerpuff Girls, Static Shock, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Jackie Chan Adventures will all air two episodes each next weekend. The votes have been tallied. Frankly, I'm glad there's no Pokemon next weekend. The show suffers considerably (and becomes an obvious 20 minute commercial) when watched back to back with The Powerpuff Girls or any other KWB show for that matter. Kids'WB! realizes that Pokemon just isn't as popular anymore, barely popular, and that's a good thing. I am looking forward to Static Shock and Powerpuff Girls next weekend, myself.

Yeah well I wouldn't be calling POKéMON an advertisment any more then the PPGs.
PPGs airs MORE times a week then POKéMON ever has!
Static Suck can rot for all I care. I thought that show fizzled out long ago.
And JCA is pure cheese which should have stuck with its classic first season and nothing more.

Not true. PPG airs six days a week on Kids'WB! (I'm not taking CN into account since it's a different network). At one time, Pokemon aired 17 times a week on KWB. Three times a day on weekdays (twice in the afternoon, once in the morning), and twice on weekends. Kids'WB! ran that franchise right into the ground by overplaying it continuously.

Not true. Static has never been better, with the "Jimmy" episode being the highlight of the season, and wa smor epowerful than all 150 or whatever episodes of Pokemon combined. Each Pokemon episode follows the same 'paint-by-numbers' plot. Static branches out quite a bit.
And JCA is pure cheese which should have stuck with its classic first season and nothing more.
While this season is more light-hearted, this series has also seen a slight improvement over the first season. More slapstick that Jackie Chan is known for.
But everyone has their different tastes.

I am not going to get involved in the Pokemon debate. I just want to agree with you that as a grown man who still watches cartoons I was also disgusted by the belching contests.
I als o would like to ask if the episode of Static with Batman and Robin is going to be on because I haven't seen it yet.

The commercials for the 'Click - N - Pick' show alot of scenes from The Big Leagues so I'd hazard to guess it will air. Static Shock will air it's two episodes from 8am - 9am (ET).

Surprise, surprise. Just like many other KidsWB shows, Pokemon will fade away without any ending of whatsoever. Personally, I wouldn't really care. This show just fell after it's 1st season (The Indigo Plateau saga). Just like what Jim said, WB plays it over and over and over again that it becomes repetitive. :(
I have to admit though, Pokemon was a good series and it could've been even better had the creators put some more thought into it instead of having the same storyline over and over and over again.

You don't count CN since it's a different network? Well I did.
But yet you count Fox's early morning syndaction run of POKéMON.
Bias? Bias towards PPG anyone?
Well I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it's WB that airs the early morning syndaction of it in your area but here it is Fox.
Nonetheless early morning showings does not count as part of KidsWB programming. Am I not right? If it does, why does Toonzone not have any schedules for as you do the afternoon and saturday KidsWB showings?

What was the big deal with that episode anyway? It was WAY to preachy.(Though not as preachy as the DiCs Sailor Says segments!)

Don't you mean more JADE? ::gagwretchheartattackdie::

Well at least I wasn't the only one disgusted with it! Where'd they get those kids from anyways? Probably pulled them outta a gutter or something.

It's not the creators, it's the writers. If I remember my history, about all the writers were fired after all the problems they created (these are the Japanesse writers if you can't guess). Those problems was that episode and some other things. That's why the story flows and the filler isn't huge like now. So the writers we have now have been since season two. And that's why the show has gone down hill.
Now another history lesson. Me and Lindz are very old pokemon fans. We've been watching and talking about the show since it started. We posted on the UPN forum and are part of the group that still hang out even if the board isn't around anymore. So in the view of me and Lindz, if there is no pokemon on Saturday, there is no sun rise. Its something we have come to expect. And Lindz is a girl that likes to be very vocal about her views.
So don't try to correct her, its her views, not yours.

Don't get me started on the Belch-A-Thom thing. Ugh sqaured. Now, I'm gonna make one last note before I finish my presence in this thread.
Up until this year, Kids'WB! had 19 hour sofpgramming a week. One hour on the weekday mornings, two hours in the afternoon, and the four hour weekend. This was official. Go check the archived Kids'WB! schedule if you don't believe me. All of the Kids'WB! affiliates had the morning block (sometimes attached to the afternoon block to make a three hour afternoon block). And during Pokemon's peek, it aired at 7am, 4pm, and 4:30pm weekdays, plus the hour installment son the weekend. That tallies up to 17 episodes - aka overkill. I'm not sure how much it aired in syndication. I dislike the show. It's a twenty minute commercial wrapped in bad animation, horrible voice acting, annoying creatures, and ridiculously bad plots (if you can even call them that). Do I prefer PPG over Pokemon? You betcha! PPG is funny, has a nice satire edge that works on an adult level, and it deserves the success it has gotten. Plus the characters are likable and the animation style is nice and sleek.
I discount CN becuase CN is a 24 hour network and would be an unfair comparison to the 19 hours of KWB a week. CN has 148 hours of programming a week. Totally unfair, which is why I discounted it. I'm sure if Pokemon aired on CN, we'd see it alot more as well. So really, in the end, these two shows really can't be compared exposure wise becuase one show airs on 24 hour animation network, and the other airs during the 19 (now 14) hours a channel dedicates to animation.
Also, I can't stand Jade in Jackie Chan. I block her out. I ignore her. I find the other characters to be likable, but I tend to just ignore the black hole that is Jade. Fun fact: The network asked the creators behind Jackie Chan to add the Jade character early in production. Jade was not originally apart of the cast.
But like I said, everyone has their own opinions. You like Pokemon becuase maybe you see something in it that I don't. Maybe there is something there, some aspect, that you really enjoy that some other viewers don't see. I'm not here to debate on which show is better, but I can state my dislike for a show, which is what I have done, as have you.
So don't try to correct her, its her views, not yours.
I know it's her view. How - her name is on the post. But she can have her view and I can have mine as well. And they differ - which is pretty common. I have no problem with it.
And I'm done.

I thought the belching contest on KIDS WB was pathetic as it is... but what did you expect from WB ? They know nothing about their audience, their attempts to be hip and cool are pathetic (remember the whole sock thing ? blarg barf)
Yet to be honest, I think this current discussion is much worser and boring than the KIDS WB bleching contest. It's a bathroom contest and I'll discuss both sides of the argument. Yeah I'm a newbie here.
What's that you say PPG is get lots of promotion ? Well duh! PPG is the big breakout with the new movie and praise (both from fans and the critics). Naturally, they're going to air it so they'll get those ratings they want.
Personally, I feel the show is one of the best modern-day examples of why animation beats the heck out of what passes for sorry live-action comedy/action. The dialogue isn't just exposition but smart witty dialogue (it's plots/characters often make the show feel like a class in POP CULTURE 101) with characters whom you love not for the cute factor but cause they've how personalites are so off-the-wall and yet you can really identify with them on a strange level. It's emotional without getting syrupy (which this writing probably is) and the action is done is a way that ranks with the best of the old Looney Tunes world and the BATMAN animated series but never manages to be too scary or show-off but pure blood pumping joy.
So, if you're a person ticked off at PPG getting all the promotion, then hey, realize for us PPG fans this is validation of just how great this show is and that it's earned the audience it now has.
This is our friend/baby that's people are realizing isn't the old stuff they've come to loathe at the mention of the word "cartoon" but a honest to god, great half hour of entertainment. It's not only on the level of any live-action show but also shows why this could only happen in animation when the people doing it having more on their mind than merchandising possibilites and jokes but have a real love and devotion to the craft of animation.
Honestly if PPG doesn't swing your boat, then fine by me....why is it not fine by you ? Can't a fellow be free to choose what he or she likes Lindsay ? Hmmm, guess not.
Hey gang! It's CLICHE 101 opinions time! "Pokemon is just a half hour toy commercial that features the same old plot over and over again! I hate those cute annoying creature! It's such badly dubbed anime!"
I find this rant so cute because it's coming from the same people who often adore MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, TRANSFORMERS, CARE BEARS, RAINBOW BRITE, G.I. JOE and many more all done not for animation but for the profit to sell more toys. While I will give these people the edge that those shows were more lavishly animated than Pokemon is and more plotted out (later on that). But to compare Pokemon to those shows (season 1 & 2 of the series, along with some episodes of season 3) there are more similarities than differences.
Now as for repetitive plots, yep, nowadays the show does have a Hanna Barbera cartoon aura about it (especially the aurea of an HB show about a certain dog named Scooby). You can pretty much tell what happens in this week's show and next years's show, too. Yet, as with those cartoons, it's the enviroment and what happens in it (pokemon battles, cute comedy/creatures) that makes us watch it, despite our better knowledge. The show's plots are as Roddy McStew would put it "crud vapors" (heck Professor Jones said it best on Pokemon regarding his comment on Heroboy, "Heroboy indeed! Bad japanese animation, that's what it is!") regarding plot and characters (the movies are better in a way) but the world itself is a place to visit again and again with it's own mythology.
As for the ever present discussion of whether or not the Jackie Chan Adventures is good. So I'll say it here and now. tis far far better than that Gary Coleman as an angel show, and while the show hasn't hit the high note of the early season (with Valmont), it's still a funny exciting show. I don't mind Jade, she's not bad. I mainly dig Uncle whom is my fave character on the show, "One more thing!"
Both cartoons work on different entertainment levels for me. PPG is a cartoon that I love for the story, animation, characters and it's attitude. Pokemon is a cartoon I enjoy for the world it creates and what it would be like to have fun there.
Static Shock ? I admit I was no big fan of it in the beginning (to be honestly I loathed it along with DETENTION, GENERATION O)but it's grown on me. What can I say ? The show has proven it's close if not exactly on the level to the previous WB animated super-hero shows in terms of drama and character development. It doesn't have the must-watch value for me that say BATMAN, SUPERMAN or BATMAN BEYOND did but I make an effort not to miss a new episode of the series.
A final thought here. Saturday/Sunday morning cartoons to be honest have never really been high-art (we have fond memories of them because of either the nostalgia factor or early exposure to them) and while there were the occasional outstanding show on the air, that was rarely the case.
Honestly, I think we haven't seen the best that's yet to come in animated cartoons...who knows, we may yet see a cartoon which both parties can agree is cool.
But hey, what do I know ? I'll probably be told I'm a load of horse manure for my opinions here. Geez, I guess I just ain't hip or cool enough to enjoy cartoons. Maybe I should stick to talking about live-action shows. At least discussions about those shows don't merge into "I'm right, You're wrong!" contests.

Hey I like the PPGs alright. I don't go out of my way to watch it, infact I avoid its Toonami(both of them) airings. I like to watch the show more at night then anything like when there's nothing else on.
I'll be seeing the moving on thursday before or after MIB2 if all works out.
And whats so great about the shows dialogue anyway? Pop culture, huh? "Camp" from the 60's? Sorry I wasn't around back then. PPGs is tame but enjoyable on occasion. I can't really stomach PPGs reruns unlike POKéMON ones.

Lindsay, okay, just clearing up stuff. I too plan on seeing PPG: THE MOVIE come July 4th right after or before I see MIB2. Just glad to know you're a fan of PPG, from your previous posts, it felt like you weren't. I didn't mean to make you all riled up with what I said here or in my other posts on this messageboard. As for me with PPG, I usually watch the Saturday morning cartoon airings or the Friday night airings. I'll admit PPG does have it's share of lesser episodes but most of the re-runs hold up well.

After I sent my review in to Brian for the News page, I looked at all the other glowingly positive reviews and felt like a heel. I mean, I'm not usually ashamed when my opinion differs from others', but, yeesh...I tore that thing apart. =X

Well, that's how many of us felt about A!, P&tB, TNBA, S:TAS, etc., when they started to be ousted by Pokémon. Everything goes in cycles. However much or little sense you want to argue it makes, that's the TV programming business. Just have to learn to live with it.

Look, give it up. Lindsay is a hopeless mess of a rambling poster, no matter what the board. She doesn't censor her opinions because that would mean being tactful, and Lordy, look at her syntax. And anyone who thinks Static Shock is garbage, well... Yeah. I've blown off people because they thought Static was "hokey" while X-Men: Evolution, which annoys me beyond description, is the greatest thing ever. Lindsay's no different, except she's somehow chosen a show even MORE annoying than Evolution & is even MORE obnoxious about it.

Hey, the 60s are coming back. Beatles music in commercials, the bell bottoms are being worn again, tie-dye everywhere. Damn, you should be able to pick up everything except the Vietnam War by just heading out to any random clothing or music store. I'm frikkin' 17, and I'm a total Beatles fanatic. The episode "Meet the Beat Alls" was probably the funniest parody of the Fab Four in years.

A! was way dead by the time POKéMON came along though I do miss that show.
P&TB was awful and should never had been on its own.

Nope I won't have had enough until it ends for real. The Johto saga does suck royally though, I like to compare it to the crappy Cell saga in DBZ.

If it is cancelled after the show has completely ended in Japan and here then I'll be okay with that.

Frankly, I lost interest in Pokemon after the third season. It's just the same thing over and over. Ash encounters Team Rocket. Team Rocket challenges them. Team Rocket loses. And in the process he meets new friends who challenge him to battles and then guess who always wins...Ash!!
It's just too boring to bare anymore, and while I still love Pikachu, you'd have to pay me to watch the show.
And by the way, I didn't appreciate coming on here and seeing "pick my butt" in a topic subject. I'm sure Harley would agree.
It would be one thing if this thread was constructive, but overall, it was not. I made the mistake in keeping it open. Lindsay, although you are intitled to your own opinions, you have been entirely negative, often putting down other series. To prevent this from becoming a "flame war," I am going to go ahead and close this thread.
