Larry T. gave me some images, showing what DVNR does to cartunes. Obviously, the computer thinks that lines are dirt specks, which ruins the cartoon. However the colors are very vibrant and more brighter. Check out these shots from the Woody Woodpecker cartune "Chew-Chew Baby":

Look what it did to Wally's face! Just a warning, these are the kind of prints used on the A&C comedy tapes. Maybe I should post this on my video guide....

Hmmm, looks like that original image didn't come out right. Either way, look at how DVNR made that scene look like someone took a washcloth and wiped it on the cel.

I think you should include the information, maybe even the two pictures and an esplanation of what DVNR is/does. While the backgrounds looks pretty good, Wally looks awful, like a big blob of orange.

Actually, Wally IS pretty much a big orange blob...:p Here's a page I just made with the images, and I think the images should come out in full view.

The other urls just quit loading for some reason after a few seconds :(

Still, after seeing the same thing happen with that Betty Boop collection a while back, I don't feel the benefit of better color is worth screwing up the line details of the character's face, even on the (lame) excuse that they're cleaning up the dirt.

Spumco has an interesting article on DVNR with examples from Betty Boop, Flintstones, and Chuck Jones' Tom and Jerrys at

They pictures seem to demonstrate the problems pretty well.
