I thought I'd have a little debate about this for the sake of fun.

I'd list them this way.

Hiko Sejirou (spelling?): He's just to strong, and unlike his pupil he doesn't really believe in always not killing his opponent. Seriously I think that this is why he could probably take down anyone else he confronted. He's so arrogant to, but he's just as good and powerful as he thinks he is.

Sojirou: I thought about it and I think that I'm actually going to put him above he others, even his master. You must consider that Kenshin didn't truely beat him with how good he was, he messed with his head by using his words (similar to how he beat Aoshi just a few minutes prior.) If the kid had been fighting with a complete mental block I don't know if even Kenshin's "god like speed" and ability to predict moves could have saved him from that Tanken (spelling.)

Kenshin, Shishio, Saito,: I'd put them all at about the same level personally. Before you say "But Shishio beat Kenshin and Saito." Understand that both of the two manslayers had been in fierce battles earlier that day none of which where particularly easy. If the two of them had been fighting at full fledge strenth I think that either of them may have been able to face Shishio and give him an even better fight, Of coarse Shishio's power also gives his weakness, I mean he can only fight for 15 minuites before he breaksdown. Ordinarily I'd put Kenshin and Saito on the same level (especially when Kenny reverted and that was just creepy.) However we also know that Saito can fight without his sword, while Kenshin seems to be a fish out of water without his.

Aoshi: I think Aoshi is just a little bit bellow the other three. Not saying that he's bad by any streth of the imagination, but I think the fact that Kenshin didn't have to revert to the Hitoroki to beat him. Of coarse Aoshi did get a whole heck of alot stronger in that year of training, and when he got his two Kodachi's and that forced Kenshin to have to bust out the Ultimate attack, which I ain't even going to try to spell.

Jinei: He's good mind you but I wouldn't put him as high up there as the other, but his hypnosis is good. However if he had confronted one of the Juppongatana especially one of the higher ranking ones instead of Kenshin, he's have been killed alot quicker. Plus he was using Karou as a shield against Kenshin, but once Ken snapped it wasn't much of a problem for him.

After that comes Kaorou who unfortunately isn't that strong, though fortunately she isn't completly helpless against attackers. She at least has some fighting power, and I can at least say that she's brave, we're talking about someone who stood in front of Saito.

Yahiko: He's still so early in his training, but he might get alot stronger.
Not I haven't seen The Jinchu ark, so I don't know how strong Eneshi is (spelling.) I do know however that he probably ranks up there with the best of them.

I agree with your rankings. I'd put Kenshin a little higher than Shishio and Saitou a little lower, but there's not much difference.

I vaguely recall another discussion on Usenet about whether, if Kenshin had lost to Soujirou, whether Hiko could've beat him. I'm not really all that sure myself. Oh well. I like 'em both.
