Who's getting this game for Gamecube? For me, DEFINATELY! It looks awesome! But first, I want to get past my fears of RE. :o

It sounds really fun, especially the sanity effects.

If I had a Gamecube, you bet I'd get it. Especially for the (In)Sanity effects. Not just the monster ones, but the ones that screw with you too...

I got it today. And it's good. EXTREMELY good. We're talking game of the year good, here. It's unbelievable. It's probably the most mature M-rated game ever: it's actually adult, intelligent, and sophisiticated, in a way Metal Gear Solid tried to be but never succeded. The story is multi-layered and genius, the graphics are very good. The sanity effects are brilliant, and some of them are truly surprising and can really throw you off. The magic system is much deeper than you would expect. The control is great- it's true analog (ditching that crappy Resident Evil turn-and-run scheme), and you'll be moving, casting spells, and hacking at monsters in no time. It's probably better than any adventure game on any next gen system yet- better than MGS2, better than RE on the cube, you name it. It's a shame it didn't come out at launch, because it is killer-app all the way.

I say this to you: if you have a GC, you MUST buy this game. Send Nintendo the message we want more like it. If it sells well, ED could tarnish the GC kiddie image more than anything this side of GTAIII, and could, possibly, change the history of gaming- it's adult in a way we haven't seen before, which I would like to see other developers try to be. Anyway, purchase it. Now. And tell your friends to do so as well. You won't regret it.

I need to keep telling myself, "I WILL have this... and I will have it soon."

I hate budgets...

i think it actually looks kinda cheesy and it seems like the crappy games made by third party developers that you never hear of after their first crap game. but that might be just me.

Eternal Darkness freakin' rocks! I rented it from Blockbuster today with my Freedom Pass. :D I'll definately buy this game when I get the money.

I can't help but compare it to Resident Evil. It's just a scary as Resident Evil, if not scarier. Sure the craphics are no where near the quality of Resident Evil's graphics, but the music, sound effects, and suroundings are much more freaky. The story is a little confusing, but it is much better the Resident Evil's. And the controls are a hell of a lot better. :) But beware, the game is also pretty hard.

Go get it right now if you like Resident Evil. Trust me, it's worth it. But then again, what does Nintendo make that isn't? :)

Lol. Eternal Darkness is one of the best games I've ever played, and I've never seen or heard anyone say that they didn't think it was possibly the greatest thing since sliced bread (unless they hadn't played it). What are you basing this on? Silicon Knights made it, and they've been making very popular games for years upon years.

The graphics are better then Resident Evil's in one very substantial way... ED features real polygonal 3-D environments, whereas RE has 2-D prerendered backgrounds. In RE, all of the GameCube's graphics capabilities are going into the one character onscreen... in ED, they're shaping out absolutely gorgeous full levels. RE's graphics look more realistic, but ED has an art style all its own, and adds real, artistic cinematography into the mix with a flowing camera.

The only genuine similarity between the two games is that most of the things you fight are zombies or zombie-like creatures. ED is a plane (or three) above RE in terms of gameplay and design.

I agree. ED vs. RE really isn't fair, since the games are VERY different, but when it all comes down to it, ED is much, much better. It's polished, slick, mature, etc. to the point of being absurd. The control is GREAT. I love it. Best of all, its loaded with replayability. Three different ways to take the quest, three different, endings, and one kind of uber-ending when you've unlocked all three other endings. It's great.

Thing is, I wouldn't call ED a survival-horror game. I think it would be more appropriate to call it an action rpg. It offers all of the things RPG fans love- a great magic system, an interweaving plot which puts FFX to shame, and tons of characters.

I bought the game today and so far I'm loving it. I can't say how great it is being that I'm really early into the game, but so far from what I've seen and done it's shapping up to be one of the best games I've played in a long time.

This game is just spooky, Like when your setting the clock and something whisppers 3:33... It really messes with you.

I'm really early into the game and I've already completed The Cinturians Stage and now I'm stuck with this broken key, searching for a drawer. If you've gone past this tell me just what the frell I'm suposed to do ?

Never mind I figured it out. I'm busy using this super hot chick, where the Sanity Meter is first explained.
