The schedule posting CN's ahead-of-time announements of the classic cartoons is great, but it fails to mention the filler cartoon aired after the 4am Scooby Doo Movie. Why they need a filler cartoon there I'll never know, but apparently they do. And I thought I'd post the schedule for these filler cartoons. Apparently they only schedule one week's worth at a time.

Note: the dates are according to CN's date system (6a-6a EDT) and non LT/MM shorts are noted.

June 24
(Filmation Droopy) Lumber Jerks

June 25
Nuts and Volts (!)

June 26
Claws in the Lease

June 27
Caballero Droopy (MGM Droopy)

Thanks for the tip, Snowpeck. I will add those to the schedule shortly. :D

Man, I've been dying to see that cartoon ever since I heard about it. I hope the network starts to play it more often.

Not to ruin your expectations, but "Nuts and Volts" isn't a really good cartoon. In fact, I think it's one of Friz Freleng's worst. The awful Bill Lava music doesn't help much either... :(

Yes, I know it's a pretty lame cartoon, but I'll be taping it anyway. I need a logo free copy, and Toon Extra usually plays the cartoons (even their crappy originals) logo free.

<< Why they need a filler cartoon there I'll never know, but apparently they do. >>

The Scooby Movies were not originally designed to fill an entire hour. At the time they originally aired, CBS was following each of its Saturday morning programs with a short educational news feature. Series' running times had to be shortened to allow room for these.

Wrong. They were designed to fit an hour. Cartoon Network edited every single episode of The New Scooby-Doo Movies in 1995, to be able to show a World Premiere Toon following the program. After the World Premiere Toons promotion died down, and the toons were rerun in the "What A Cartoon! Show," CN still showed the edited Scooby Movies...which gave birth to the "Toon Extra."

I'm not denying that they're edited. I'm just saying that they weren't designed to fill 60 full minutes of network time. In the air print I've got (admittedly, only one), the show runs about 55 minutes, the rest of the hour filled out primarily with one of those CBS "In the News" features for kids.

The Scooby-Doo movies were edited? I didn't know that. Anyway, back on the subject of "Nuts and Volts," even if it is bad. I'd still like to give it a try. It would be nice to see another appearance of the robot from "Robot Rabbit." Besides, some times I like to see how bad something is. I also read that "Goodnight Elmer" was really bad, but I'd still like to see that one.

"Goodnight Elmer" never really bothered me for some reason. It's not a particularly good short, but I wouldn't bash it to the extent it was in "Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies: An Illustrated Guide To Warner Brothers Cartoons." I think it's the only cartoon they call irritating.

Well, including ads, the airings on CN run about 50 minutes! So they are edited on CN...

O.K., so here are some cartoons I'd like to add to my collection:

Nuts and Volts
Goodnight Elmer
The Daffy Duckaroo

Maybe I should check out "ebay" and "amazon" and see where I can find some of these.

"Nuts and Volts" is a good cartoon, not great. The music hurts it, and it's sort of a remake of the (for some reason, rarely shown) "Tweet and Lovely". However, the character designs and most of the animation are really handsome. As I recall the backgrounds are neat too...it's worth a look.

Goodnight Elmer is ok, but you really do feel sorry for Elmer at the end.

The good news is there will be no Dubbed Version copyright at the end :D
