I was looking at the TV Guide earlier today, and it said that Fantastic Four was scheduled to be on at 5:30 AM on 6/23 (today) and 6/30 (next saturday). Is this the newer series, or the older '60's one? Thanks.....

It's the first "Fantastic Four" series from the 1960's.

You probably have seen the show by now and know the answer, but it was the 60s version. There's no Herbie, either.

It was just something Boomerang was doing.

A robot. I think the Human Torch was eliminated from the 80s (?) animated FF because the networks thought that kids would set themselves on fire. So they replaced him with Herbie, a really dopey talking robot...

I think that's how it goes. I haven't seen this version since I was 5.

He replaced the Human Torch, because the BS&P gods of the day thought he was too immitatable. They thought that kids would see the show, douse themselves in gasoline, and then "flame-on"!

They put HErbie IN Ff because human toruch was bought by Universal to have his own series that never got off the ground. :)

Yup, that's what I've heard. From what I've read, the other story is supposedly just a rumor. The Human Torch's rights were held by someone else, so they had to introduce Herbie.

Herbie the Robot was a character substituted for Human Torch in the Marvel 60's series.
