I'm dead serious.
I got my new EGM in the mail today, and boy was I suprised when I saw some of the screenshots for Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. Here's a link to the pics:

Odd, isn't it?
They are honest-to-God screenshots from the "director's cut" version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, which is coming out for X-Box (November) and PS2 (Early 2003). Apparently Hideo Kojima didn't want to "take himself too seriously," so he decided to include this (along with some other minor, and one major) feature for the re-release. Thoughts?
To see the great trailer go here (http://jpn01.konami.co.jp/movie/mgs2_sub/mgs2s_e3_en).
It looks like Hideo is adding alot of extras to Substance. Hundreds of VR missions, Snake in Plant, Raiden in Tanker, different playable characters, Snake Tales, moving in first person mode, and of course Solid Skateboarding. I'll definetly be picking one up in early 2003.

I can see it now: David Hayter's Pro Skater. You've got my money, Kojima.

I avoided MGS2 for a reason.
Some stupid half-baked extras won't bring me to buying it's remake.
Now to sit back and laugh at the suckers who bought it last year and who will buy it again.

Ooohhh.... Tell me you can break Snake's lousy neck if he falls wrong. (I REALLY hate him.)
Seriously, this is cool. Anything that'll keep you playing more, even if it's silly, is okay by me. And I am SO glad this is not an XBox exclusive.
Mela (I cannot understate how much I HATE Solid Snake.)

You know, there's smarmy, and then there's THIS. Some of us enjoy remakes, money be damned. If you're gonna prevent a contrary opinion, don't do it in such a high-and-mightily-nasty manner.

indeed. Please be more considerate in the future. A simple "I avoided the MGS2 for reason, and some new extras aren't gonna make me buy it" would've worked...

It's a little more than some half baked extras. If Hideo Kojima just wanted to cash in on MGS all he had to do was replaces Snake with Raiden and it would have sold hundreds of thousands more copies for him. But he didn't take the greedy approach. Instead he added many features. Playing the whole game in first person mode, new missions involving Snake, hundreds of interesting VR missions, playing as additional characters at different times like Ninja. If you didn't get MGS yet and still won't get it I doubt you ever wanted it in the first place.

I didn't buy it in the first place because it didn't seem up to par as the first one. Now with all the extras, im going to buy it. Kojima has appeased me.

I say what I am feeling. I won't censor myself so if you want to take the time to censor me then go right ahead.
And I did play MGS. I rented it for 3 days when it first came out. It was short and pretty easy as most games are these days, but it was fun. The only real problem I had was that it overheated my Playstation a heck of a lot thanks to all the speech LOL.
