Who do you all think is the best actor to play James Bond

SEAN CONNERY

He kicked off Bond movies in the first place, defined the guy in popular imagination, and starred in the best movies. Heck....when you say "Bond" Connery's the one that comes into my mind. As it does for thousands of other people.

No contest. It's the best one himself that gets my vote. :D

Sean Connery, no doubt in my mind. He was the only Bond I ever actually WANTED to watch.

Sean Connery, hands down. Roger Moore always disturbed me, Dalton and Brosnan tie for second though. Connery's were also better for their era, James Bond is kind of dated now.

It's barely worth the post - but I'll say it.

Seany C.

Although I do enjoy Remmington's take and Moore's early stuff. Dalton is someone who did a good take on the original character - I just can't help feel he's, well, boring. And Lazenby... he was lucky enough to get the best film even if he wasn't the best Bond..

I've seen them all (except CASINO ROYALE where the villain gets up after he dies onscreen.) I grew up with Connery Bond films.

But Brosnan is better. He pulls off Bond's arrogance, his coolness under pressure, much better than Connery ever did. Brosnan is better in hand-to-hand, and he just flat looks better. I know Bond is supposed to be an older man, but Brosnan is the best Bond I've seen.

Sean Connery was the first. Sean Connery was the best. It's really that simple.

Also, I'm sure we can all agree that George Lazenby was by far the worst. Her Majesty's Secret Service (that's what it's called, right?) would have been great if it had been Connery... Instead of that tool.

I'm a bit torn. Connery is by far one of my all time fav actors, and I loved him as Bond, he was so great. But Brosnan has done very well in the role as well, and I think he fits it better physically then Connery ever did. Man, but you can't beat Connery's wonderful accent and look. he was so charismatic, sexy, dangerous, etc. Being the one to really start it all off, and for doing more films, I think I'll have to go with him as well.

I never found Moore believable, not as a spy or as a ladies man. Connery might be the best, but I don't think's it fair to say hands down or easily. Brosnan has been the best since Connery at combining the deadliness of Bond's character with his charm. Dalton, I thought, brought an edge to his portrayal and was believable as an agent, just not as James Bond.

I do think it's very close between Connery and Brosnan, so right now, I'd say the top three were:

1. Pierce Brosnan
2. Sean Connery
3. Timothy Dalton

It's tough, though. In the past, I've often said Connery.

Here's my list:

1 - Sean Connery
2 - Pierce Brosnan (a close second)
3 - Timothy Dalton
4 - Geroge Lanseby
5 - David Niven (although I've never heard of him)
6 - All Bond parodies/ripoffs (Austin Powers, Maxwell Smart, etc.)
7 - Any high school/college kid who played Bond in their pathetic attempt of a "James Bond fanfic put to film".
8 - Roger Moore

Why oh WHY did you put David Niven in? The Casino Royale remake sucked.

Sean Connery, all the way. But, who is David Niven???

David Niven was in: Guns of Navarone, The Pink Panther, 55 Days at Peking, and Murder By Death to name a few.
Very classy british guy. Might have made a very good Alfred if a Batman movie had been made in 70's.

Sean Connery is first just because in all of Fleming's novels Bond is supposed to be Scottish. But as a "good" 007, Pierce Brosnan seems like a natural.
