i know its kinda late since the game came out like in october or something. i just wanted to hear some of your thoughts about the game. personally, it's like my favorite racing game. gran turismo 3 is good too, but i'm more a nascar fan than the racing gran turismo 3 has. although i like how you can be indy cars in gran turismo 3. any way, i am proud to say that i have dominated the game, over 100 wins and over 7 winston cups. i like how the game has many paint schemes for the other cars, but they have too much for tony stewart and bobby labonte. i wish they had the pepsi scheme for jeff gordon's car. i also wish the game also featured nascar legends besides benny parsons and richard petty. legends like darrell waltrip, bobby allison, david pearson, the list goes on. a great game if they had the things that i would like to see. heck, its still a great game even with out the things i want. i hope the next one is just as good with alot more features. i cant wait nascar heat 2. that game is gonna kick! i hope the company knows to make the grapics better than nascar heat 2002.

Well, I almost wish that Bird Boy didn't link me to this. I havn't played the game, but, during the races last year, on NBC, they toured all the tracks on it before each race. If you love the game, you might not want to read this! My opinion: It sucks, beyond suck. 3 simple reasons: 1) It's extremely unrealistic 2) Graphics, especially the on-board cam. Driver's heads don't lean like that in the turns... 3) See #1.
Okay, now, if you have a PC that can take it, go buy yourself Nascar Racing Season 2002 by Papyrus (http://www.papy.com). They make the best, most realistic, racing simulations, ever, period. That "game" is so realistic that Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kevin Harvic, Dale Jarrett, Steve Park, and Jeff Gordon all practice on it. Jr and Harvic have both given credit to the simulation on national TV, and didn't get paid to do so. It's that good, but because of the sheer realism, it's hard as hell. You can't just hop in and mash the gas, you'll just spin out. It's hard and challenging, but once you get the hang of it, it's fun as hell. I've played Nascar Heat, and nothing compairs to this. You're not a true Nascar fan until you try this sucker out! Take a good look at the background image for this fourm, I put a picture of NR2002 in it. :)

i never noticed how the drivers heads lean or dont lean. i played the papyrus games and their pretty good. the only ones i played was a demo of legends and i own 1999 season, it was only like 10 bucks. yeah their out of date and i'm sure the new ones are great but i hope that they are not a pain at the controlls (i use the key board). if i could rent computer games i would rent nascar season 2002, but i dont want to wate 50 bucks on a game i might not like. is nascar racing 4 the same as nascar season 2002? i'd rather buy that one 1st since it will go down in price soon.

I have to go with The Flash with this one... I have Nascar Racing, Nascar Racing 2, Nascar Racing Expantion Pack, Nascar Racing 1999 edition, and Nascar Racing 4. I love Papyrus way of making a racing car game for Nascar... They do the best job... I never buy console racing games after I bought Nigel Mansell Championship Racing game on SNES -which was ok, but not as releastic as Nascar Racing back in the day....
I'll buy Nascar Racing 2002 edition if I was you... I trust Papryus with their racing games all the time... I would I highly recommend it to you...

Zap, it sounds like you don't have NR2002. I waited a while to buy it, when I got it I found out that it fixed almost all of the annoying bugs that N4 had. You can bump draft with the AI, and not be spun out. It also has a 3.0 mile fantasy track. They wanted to see what it would be like with out the restrictor plates. :) I was able to get up to 248 in the draft! They also made the handling more realistic, and belive it or not, it's slightly easier. Very strange, but it is more realistic. Papy does a great job with their stuff.
Oh, and, rggkjg1, if you're using a keyboard, forget it. It's basically impossible to drive anywhere in N4 or NR2002 with a keyboard. It's hard enough with a wheel... :)

The Flash <-- You are correct that I don't have NR2002. After reading your remarks about the game... I probably going to buy it... Thanks
Also I use the a SideWinder Gamepad... It works wonders on NR4... Also it's so easy to use... I tried to play NR4 at cousins house with a the keyboard... It's next to impossible to play with it.....
BTW: I was thinking of buying a wheel and pedals for my Nascar games... Which one (Companies) should I buy??

First of all, sorry I took so long to reply, I don't visit this board very often. :D
I have gone through a couple of wheel sets. The best *by far* out there is Act-Labs. When I got that wheel system it just blew me away. I've got through about 2 different Thrustmaster wheel systems, each one broke within a 1-2 year period. And I'm *not* hard on things. One was regular, the other was a force feedback wheel. The force feedback wheel broke when it was about a year old, I was pissed. They also wouldn't sell me replacement parts for it.
So, I shopped around for the longest time and ended up getting an Act-Labs system. That turned out to be the right thing to do. I got their Force Feedback wheel, and their shifter (which is cool as hell, more on that later.) I've had them for over 2 years now, they're still in mint operating shape and don't show any signs of breaking. A couple of my friends have played on it, and the wheel really took a beating from that, and is still ticking along just as good as new. They came out with a new pedal system, which has a clutch on it. Again, great buy!

Back to the wheel, every time I play it it's, "WOW" all over again. Not only is the force feedback cool, but it actually helps you. You can feel the bumps in the track and you can feel the car twitch. It's a must have for N4 and N02. I've been to message boards, for those games, and I see people saying that they'll never buy a force feedback wheel because it would distract them too much. Don't listen to them, they're full of it. It really does help you. I know the picture doesn't look very pretty, but it looks just fine in person. Also, did I mention the wheel has leather on it? Even when your palms get sweaty, it still grips.

The shifter is absolutely great. No more up and down, blah, stuff. It has up to 8 gears, and also has different metal plates (http://www.act-labs.com/images/race11_product.jpg) to put over it to customize your settings (IE: Nascar, R, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th). When I bought it, the Nascar plate was 5 bucks. Well worth it! The shifter is sold separately from the wheel and connects underneat it. You can even pick which side you want it on. I think there is a package to buy the wheel, pedals, and shifter together.
The thing that made up my mind about getting an Act-Labs system was, A) The real shifter and B) The price. I didn't really care about it when I got it, but you can use it with consoles too (I think you have to buy the connectors, separately). What they're charging for their stuff is a steal! Their website is www.act-labs.com and I highly recommend their stuff!
