I am not talking about the upcoming Episode One DVD, but the original trilogy on DVD. What would you like to see on each DVD for bonus features?

For A NEW HOPE, I want both the most current, final "special edition" this movie possible, with all the restored footage. Also, on the same DVD, I would like to see the original cut of the movie as shown in theaters in 1977 on the DVD. That would be disc one. Complete director's commentary for each.

Disc two for A NEW HOPE would have all the interviews and documentaries about the movie, including the original making of documentary that showed on TV waaaayyyy back in the late 70's. I'd like to see about four hours of material packed on to the second disc.

Disc three would have the original uncut black and white version of Star Wars with all the different scenes and I believe even some actors may have been different. The discovery of this black and white Star Wars featured a majorly different movie than the one we saw in the theaters, and was even featured in an issue of the Star Wars Insider. Rounding out the disc, I'd like to see the Star Wars Christmas Special, and the episode of the Muppet Show with Mark Hamill on it.

Disc four would continue to feature the original TV spots and trailers, and would also include other TV clips of specials about the movie and different actors on other TV shows from the movie. I'd also include, as part of the DVD-ROM features, the complete run of Bantha Tracks on the DVD, screen savers, and etc.

For EMPIRE and JEDI, I would stick to the same basic format as the New Hope box set, only probably cut it down to three discs, as I don't believe you have original black and white cuts of these movies that have yet to be seen. For Empire, on disc three, I'd like to see them have the Shadows of the Empire animated feature they had always talked about doing, but I doubt that would be a special feature on the DVD, but probably a major release by itself. On JEDI, I'd like to see the Ewok movies featured as bonus features on the third disc.

I could see Star Wars to Jedi coming to DVD, but like the Ewok movies, Lucas will probably keep it as a separate release. I don't know, that's not based on anything but my own guess, but that would be fine by me. You listed some kick butt features that escaped my mind, so I say free up the space for some of these great bonus features!

These movies have to kick the Toy Story box set out of the water, right now my favorite DVD collection with bonus features.

I know many of you may not know this, but the the Hilbrandt brothers painted the original A NEW HOPE poster back in the 70s, and I'd like to see a short featurette with them. The only reason I know this is becuase the Hilbrandt brothers did some paintings for DC and they mentioned thatr as their first major gig, and it's quite the image, too. I'd like to see a featurette on the artwork and designs that went into STAR WARS. I know the movie poster may seem trivial, but the bothers did an amazing job on it.

That poster and the original poster for Empire Strikes Back are my two favorite movie posters ever. I hope they use the artwork from the original posters for the DVD cover art. I'd hate to see cover art like they did for the special edition VHS box set, with the logo and the half face shots of Yoda, Darth and the Stormtrooper. That looked trashy.

My current understanding is that the 1997 special editions were basically unfinished at the time of their release, especially the one for New Hope. A final special edition will be ready in time for the DVD release. And I have heard that song sequence they added to Jedi will also be removed, thank God. We may not be able to get Jar Jar removed, but at least that should be gone. So, while some of you may be looking forward to getting the 1997 versions on DVD, right now, I hadn't heard Lucas talk about putting them on DVD. Of course, I hadn't heard anything about him putting the original cuts of the movies on DVD either. Remember back in 199whatever when it was advertised so heavilly that the set of tapes they released at that time would be the final time the original cuts of the Trilogy would be available on video-ever? Lucas has since then pushed his special editions as if they are the only version of the movies that exist.
