The strangest occurrence had to have been an appearance by Michael Jackson in England on Saturday where he chose an event hosted by fans to launch an attack on label Sony Music.
“Being the artist that I am at Sony, I generated several billion dollars for Sony, several billion and they really thought that my mind is on music and dancing... it usually is but they never thought that this performer myself would outthink them," said Jackson to wild applause. “So we can't let them get away with what they're trying to do because now I'm a free agent. I just owe Sony one more album, it's just a box set really, with two new songs which I've written ages ago.”
Jackson then launched into a more personal attack on Sony Chief Executive Officer, Tommy Mottola, calling him ‘the devil.’ “Mariah Carey, after divorcing Tommy came to me crying, crying, she was crying so bad I had to hold her and she said to me that this is an evil man and 'Michael this man follows me' she said, he taps her phones, and he's very, very evil and she doesn't trust him and he is a horrible human being.” Michael ended with an eerie statement: “We have to continue our drive until he is terminated."

I bet that statement was much funnier when he said it live than it is when you read it. :D

This was building up for a loooooooooooooooong time! I'm glad Michael finally spoke out about something his fans knew since "You Rock My World" was prematurely released(it shouldn't have been released at all). It's also great to see him do something many artists don't get the chance to do, walk away from their record company filthy rich! I know it won't stop there though, he really HATES Mottola, along with many other artists who either still is or was on Sony's roster.

Rather surprising. I wonder if there will be any backlash? The second part of his statement was rather personal and arguably slanderous...

They actually showed the clip about this on Access Hollywood yesterday, and yes it was quite funny :p

What, the part involving Mariah? Yeah, that was a surprise to me too, and only Michael and Mariah knows if this is true or not. As for a backlash, there is already one against Sony. Fans have been protesting for Michael since the Democratic Party at the Apollo awhile back and they're going to do it again on July 6th right infront of Sony Music's head quarters. All of this is reminding me of when Prince did this back in the early 90s, though Prince seemed more open about his hatred towards the record label, this was the first time MJ openly spoke about ANYTHING regarding his music.

I Wasn't Surprized
Sony Is Such A Dumbass Ever Since They Rejected The Nana On-Sha Japan Import "Vib-Ribbon" and their american port of Epic booted out Simon and Milo (alias Prozzak)

Michael Jackson is NOT rich. For years, he has been taking out multi-million dollar loans using his song catalog rights as collateral. When the loan expires he just takes out a new one. Lord knows what he uses all this money for, it certainly isn't for his music. He hasn't done anything interesting since Thriller.
His first post-Sony album will tank, guaranteed.

I seriously doubt that, being that his last album sold 9 to 10 million WorldWide with the little promotion it received. Hell, his most recent song, Butterflies, shot to number 1 on Urban and Urban AC WITHOUT a video beating out artists like Alicia Keys and Usher who had videos in heavy rotation at the time. So maybe he hasn't done anything interesting to you, but there are millions of people who obviously think otherwise.
Also, one question, how do YOU know what Michael does with his money? What reliable sources do you have states that Michael just makes loan after loan? Are you Michael? Do you work in his camp? So many questions, so little answers.....

Note to self when in a thread with Matt Wilson don't make fun of Web Animators and when in a thread with LilSonGoku don't make fun of Micheal Jackson.
Now back to the topic. Just because an album doesn't sell doesn't mean it not good. America isn't the only place in the world where people buy music. Butterflies was an awesome sing. One of the best songs he has done in years. My only question is that I thought Jackson had his own record company or does Sony just distribute his albums? Jackson doesn't need promotion because good music doesn't have to be shove down your throat!
