how to - about music vids

I've been wanting to maybe make a musicvideo with Batman but I never did cuz my PC was always to crappy - well now my PC is a mini-monster and so I was wondering,

Do I need a vidcapture card or can I get my materials from kazaa and then cut it and use on my own video?

I was hoping I could use the stuff already on the net since I don't have tapes with BTAS to take from.

Is there a How To out there for newbies like me?

Like so many other things in the world of internet media projects I can once again say, "I've dabbled..." :p Although I didn't get around to making my Batman project damn it. Well, the first one yeah but not the one I wanted to. Grrrr.

Since I learned about the programs I'm going to explain in classes at school, I could get pretty complicated, but the basics you need to know, as far as WHAT you need aren't too bad.

What you need is a video clip modifying program, like Adobe Premiere or Director. With my projects, I used Premiere. What these guys do is allow you to create "projects" by importing sound and movie clip files and mixing and matching them, then compiling and exporting the finished projet into a brand new movie.

For example, using my school's equiptment I made a movie of Zelda 2 (N64) clips up against my favorite Metallica song. The movie's survival is another story though, cuz some idiot crashed the computer when I wasn't using it. :mad: Anyway, They had the stuff I needed to transfer the stuff on the tape into movie files on the computer I could import into the program. I'm not possitive about the specifics to that VCR-to-TV equiptment because I never got to look into it (school year ended). But if you have movie files already on your computer that you want to use that solves that!

All that's left is getting your audio files that you want, and learning how to use a program that can make movie files. Then you'll be a baby Speilberg.

Oh! Wasn't there a Batman: Mask of The Phantasm movie compilation made with Metallica music coasting around the net or Morpheus or something? I always wanted to get my hands on that. :) But if you did, that'd be a great example.

Yes there is and I downloaded it - I liked the idea but somehow it wasn't all right - I want to "redo" his idea - It was "Unforgiven" by Metallica :)

I have some pretty good ideas. Thanks for the info NW.
