I'm just wondering, with the revival of all these 80's cartoons out there, what cartoon from the 80's do you think is the best? If you can't neccesarily pick "the best", then pick which one you think you enjoyed most the first time it was on the air...

i went with other 'cause you didn't include my all-time fav (before batman:tas took its place) THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS
i loved that show. remember the episode when the kid turned into a grendel? genuinely creepy.
it wasn't as good after they changed it into 'slimer and the real ghostbusters' though

Hmm...you have a point...After the Big 5, (Heman, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Thundercats, and TMNT...these are what I consider the Big 5) I had trouble remembering other hit cartoons from the 80's. Dungeons and Dragons and the Real Ghostbusters are kinda like cult hits...as is Robotech...these shows have loyal fan followings but aren't remembered quite as well as the Big 5....still Maybe other Real Ghostbuster fans will rally for it's support here?

TMNT without a doubt. I loved that show!

I surprised myself by picking Transformers over Robotech. Transformers has held up better over time since it stands alone in its genre, while the things that made Robotech great have been done over again many times, frequently with better results.

I really wanted to like TMNT way back when, but it spent too much time being silly for my tastes, especially since it came around as I was getting older.

The biggest problem with Real Ghostbusters for me was that they never really captured Peter Venkmen. Garfield did the original voice, and then it got worse when they replaced him with a... I just can't figure out how to describe it... impulsive, confrontational twenty-year old personality.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gets my vote. Growing up, I loved the show and continued to be a fan of it till it's last days on ABC (believe that was the network). Very close second and third place goes to Transformers and The Real Ghostbusters.

I too am surprised at the lack of real ghostbusters, but I went with TMNT.

:D

Oh... and that was CBS and USA for TMNT.

My favorite from the list is She-Ra . I also loved all the other girl cartoons from the 80's (Care Bears , etc.)

He-Man

I also liked
She-Ra
Dungeons and Dragons
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
but not the others up there.

And, The (I'm Not Really the) Real Ghostbusters were at least better than the movie, yet not the originals.

Good Ol' Batmanuel!

Best TV cartoon in the 80's? My vote would be for "DuckTales"...

As a kid, I liked: "He-Man"/"She-Ra", the "Superfriends" (still recall the "Super Powers" spinoff where Darkseid's laughing head was superimposed over the Hall of Justice in the title scene....looked pretty cool at the time; yeah, this show stayed on well into the 80's so it counts), "Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers", "Pac Man", and "Muppet Babies"...

You know... you're right. Ducktales was a great show... why did I think it came out in 1990 though?

DuckTales came out in 1987. So it should qualify as an 80's cartoon.

When I set up the poll, I had in mind the action cartoons of the 80's...when I think of the 80's, I think of it as the decade that truly gave birth to the Action Cartoon. So that's why Ducktales isn't on there. However, if you picked Other and voted for Ducktales, so be it. It isn't one I would have thought of, but I liked that show too when it was on the air.

Let's see here, concerning the Other Catagory...2 votes for The Real Ghostbusters, 1 for Ducktales, and 1 for...Astroboy? I don't think Astroboy came out in the 80's but oh well...

If I had remembered The Real Ghostbusters, I might have put that on there instead of Dungeons and Dragons, however, I clearly remember D and D on Sat. mornings of my youth, and I enjoyed it thouroughly, and so I may just end up voting for it, (yes, I haven't voted yet, and I'm torn between that one and Transformers and Robotech).

Astro Boy was originaly an anime from the 60, and was the first anime to reach our shores thanks to Fred Ladd. It did have an 80's rivival, So I don't know if that would qualify.

No doubt about it! It's gotta be Transformers for me! :D I've always enjoyed this series--Istill have many of my old toys from way back then. They include both original Optimus and Megatron. Great show, even if the movie stunk with its heavy metal music.

Another show I liked from the '80's was Beverly Hills Teens--terrific show, especially seeing the girls wear swimsuits in almost every episode. ;)

Unquestionably Robotech. Transformers was created to sell toys, and despite its epic (sorta) storyline, I still can't get over the fact that the main characters are talking robots that turn into cars. Robotech's uber cool soap opera plot, epic feel, battle scenes, and excellent (at the time) animation still remain impressive to me today. Admittedly, I hated chapters two and three, but the fact is, even hacked up, Macross is Macross and its quite a piece of work.

Well I can't give an honest decision, because I haven't seen a lot of those recently. Voltron, Transformers, Robotech, and many others I've had a chance to re-evaluate now that i'm older. And from that list I'd say Robotech is definitely the best, it had the best story. But Ghostbusters, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Ducktales, and many other good cartoons were missing from that list.

I finally broke down and voted for Dungeons and Dragons...it was the most serious of the Sat. Morning cartoons of it's time...Robotech and Transformers were close seconds. And if you the Peter Cullen was great as the herioc voice of Optimus Prime on Transformers, you haven't heard him sound evil as Venger on D and D! That guy could act!

I'm surprised with all the fan praise about the return of GI Joe, that we haven't seen anyone vote for it yet!
