Hiya all,

I've been doing some sketches for the Batgirl painting and would appreciate comments on the sketch.

I also have this problem with WHAT to write behind her. All the ideas I get are more associated with Batman or Robin. Those are easy, but Batgirl is killing me!! Could anyone out there help me out and suggest what to write behind her that would be IN character. Either a quote or something descriptive or so...

One suggestion (from a fellow board member) was "Beauty, Brains, Brawn", what do you guys think?

Oh, yeah... before anyone jumps at me, this pose is heavily influenced by a Kevin Nowlan Batgirl. Gorgeous painting that one.

Thanks in advance / jakob

I did these alternate thumbnail sketches. Anyone you guys and gals like better than the one posted above?

(The jumping pose is based on Bowen's Batgirl statue)

Wow, those look awesome! :D Sorry, but I can't think of anything to write behind her, though. :dot:

Um those are REALLY good. Why the heck hasn't anyone besides Watagashi and myself commented on these yet?

So, why haven't more replied? Guess people have better things to do, good for them :) Anyways, I think I've pretty much nailed the palette for this piece now. Will try to paint it on a black board and see how that turns out. So if anyone's got something to say about the text in the bg or the pose you'd better hurry. I hope to paint it this weekend.

Will post the finished piece when it's done.

And thanks for all the kind words.

I often wonder the same thing. I'm always at a loss as to why the fabulous artwork posted by our Drawing Board All Stars like Nightflower, Bic, and yourself never get more responces... But then again, it's always the same at other art boards I've been on as well.

With regards to this lovely Batgirl, I really can't say much more than what I said about your equally lovely Supergirl - this is just as superb, and I look forward to seeing the finished result...

BTW - good choice of pose. That Kevin Nolan painting really is great, isn't it? :D

I really like the choice of colors you used for Batgirl, they're really sharp. Heck, if I could get that made into a poster, I would! And there are two reasons I can give for why such wonderful artists, maybe of whose work we get to see here, go unnoticed or don't seem to get the praise they deserve. One, is that not many people come to the Drawing Boards. We're creative people, we all know that, and creativity has it's own schedule. This board can go weeks without getting noticed or having anything added to it because an artist might be working on something or is having an artist's block. So most posters don't check this place often, if at all, and so they miss out on some of the wonderful things we see here. Also, I actually have praised jakob's work, at least twice before now, but not here. He went to the Bat boards first, asking for advice on what words to write behind Batgirl, so a lot of posters there got to see his awesome work, and praise it. And frankly, although it's always great to have loads of people remark highly on something you've done, just one person saying they like it is enough for me.

Don't worry or feel bad about a thing. I'm VERY happy with the great response I've gotten on this board. It's nice to get such appreciation. So, thanks again y'all!

Oh, and I'm almost done with the painting. Have some letters left and the outlines. Other than that she's done. Will post the finished piece soon.

Jakob :)
