View Full Version : Does Batman: the Animated Newsletter rule, blow, or neither?

Lookit me, I'm here doing what I do best - talking about me!

Well, kinda.

You see, I know a number of you are subscribed to Batman: The Animated Newsletter (my newsletter, ahem), and I was curious as to what any of you thought. Seriously, I'm not looking for an ego-stroke here, I'd like some feedback.

The reason I'm asking is, first and foremost, I've always wanted to ensure that this newsletter is something that the fans liked, appreciated, and could actually use. Second, with the lack of new Bat-info and other rumours coming out these days, my own personal interest has waned a bit in recent months - that's part of the reason why the times between delivery dates have been longer than usual, if anyone is wondering.

I don't want to retire the newsletter or anything - knowing me, I at least have to get to issue #222 before I call it off - but if anyone has any suggestions to make it better, switch things up, or whatever, please feel free to respond. It could really help it get back on track.

Thanks for any future input from any of you guys! You're da best!

-Tim

Well way back when, when I was subscribed to it, I thought it was a pretty dang cool newsletter. It had a little bit of everything to appease all fans. But I don't know what kind of shape it is in as of late...although just a moment ago I realized that I hadn't been subscribed to the newsletter for many a month, and sent an email at one of the addy's supplied to resubscribed. But I just got an email back saying that there was an error, basically that the email was incorrect. That was the yahoo addy, suppose I'll try the other one next!

Thanks Babs...I think I do recall seeing your e-mail on the list WAY back then. I can always resubscribe you if you want.

Hmmmm...man, I need to come up with a cool new contest idea...*PONDERS* If I can somehow make the newsletter as "dang cool" as it was ages ago, I'd be thrilled...HELP!

I've been a subscriber for quite a while, and I must say that the No Man's Island contest was very cool and fun! (especially since I won me a tape! ;)) I think something along these lines again would be cool. Say, do you get Justice League on any channels over yonder? I have yet to see it (I bought the dvd, but my player broke :() and it does seem that a lot of people haven't seen them yet, especially Canadian fans. Oh, and Superman: TAS, too! Global used to play them sporadically 5 or 6 years ago, but since then, the only episode I've seen is Knight Time. Overall, I've only seen maybe 5 or 6 episodes of the show. :( If you have copies of these shows on tape, you could run a contest that gives people a choice of what prize they want. If not tapes, then maybe a toy or something. I know I'd love to get a tape full of Superman: TAS episodes! :D

I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Funny thing I didn't even realize until now, but word for word that's exactly what happened to me. How can we get back on track again? I remember being told I should resubscribe myself at one point some time ago....

And I agree, that No Man's Island contest was really fun and clever. :)

Oh man, thanks for all the support, guys - I loved doing the NO MAN'S ISLAND contest, too. The problem is, I can't think of something to follow it up with! It has to be bigger and better, and seriously, I put so much time and sweat and goo (yes, goo) into that mock-epic that I can't think of anything better, as far as contests go. Batmanuel's ideas for prizes were interesting, though - I have yet to see any JLA episodes besides the DVD, and have yet to see ALL of the STAS and BEYOND episodes, but maybe I can do something with that. Hmmmm...

As for all of you having trouble with the newsletter, I can't figure it out, but it has some serious problems with certain AOL e-mail addresses. This problem has been around since the get-go in '98. Agh. :P All I can suggest is, subscribe again?

And how do you subscribe, you ask? Just send an e-mail to little ol' me, Tim "TWO-FACE" Leighton, at this e-mail address (juno@dccnet.com) and I'll set you right up...for free!

Quickly subscribe before we start charging user fees!

:)

Just kiddin'.

It kinda stinks being a Canadian fan of these shows sometimes, eh? We're getting hosed! ;)

Well Tim, let me just say that I always enjoy reading it. I only signed up this past fall, but it's a fun thing to get in my inbox every now and again. The trivia is cool

(Say what issue did No Man's Island start in? Just in case I ever have time to look back.)

It's only a matter of time until something NEW happens in the animated Bat-world...and trust me, we at the newsletter will be ALL OVER IT when it happens. :)

Oh, and Penguin, if you want to read NO MAN'S ISLAND, it is featured in issues #75-93. :) Enjoy!
