When did everyone first discover TTTP, and what do you remember about how it was like when you discovered it?

I discovered the TTTP in early 1998, when it had just started. I lurked for a long period of time, until the board moved to Freeboards, when I finally decided to register and post. When I first came to the BeSeen board, people talked about a lot of stuff, and there were some people there who are now gone (Joey Mallick and Steve Carras are some examples). I remember the Sylvester background...

What about the rest of you?

I first discovered it early in February 2001. I first posted on February 11, 2001. It was in what is now Archive 80. That was enough time for me to get used to the old board, so I hesitated about 4 days before registering for the new one. Now, I have come to like many of the new features (but hate avatars!)

Edit: I had to correct the year. It said 2000, while it is really supposed to be 2001.

I, too, first heard about this message board in early 1998 when it was first begun, meaning I've been reading here (but not necessarily posting as much here) since almost the board's very beginning. Recently, I've been posting more than I've ever been and I love it! :) :) :) Frankly, the topics here are more interesting to me than any other message board I've been to which means, of course, that I always enjoy coming here.

I first stumbled onto Termite Terrace in mid-summer of last year. I remember the "This Is It" wallpaper.

I probably discovered it during summer of 2000 but avoided regular use for a looong time, started visiting regularly probably in Jan., started posting after a few weeks of lurking, but somewhat irregularly. Then I gradually posted more and more and built up to the point where I usually make a couple of posts a day.

So I'm a slow learner! :p

I found the board in late 1999, but did not start posting until February 2000.

I think it may have been early 2000, when I joined.

I dont remember the date (If I were to take a guess, I'd say somewhere around '99) but it was Jon's censored 11 page that brought me here.

Pretty sure I started coming here in late '98 or early '99, lurking at first, then posting fairly regularly. Recently, I was gone for about a month and a half while I relocated, and when I rejoined, the board was entirely different! What a shock! Kind of like having your parents move and not tell you (though that's never happened to me). Took me a while to get used to it, but I really like the new board. Now I can barely remember how it USED to be...

Just like Thad I discovered it in late 1999, when the board was on some website called "freeboards" or something like that. But, unlike Thad I started posting back then. From what I remember there were three members that I never see on this board anymore after early 2001, Steve Siegert, Tim Ingles, and some guy named Peter who would always post the contents of every single classic cartoon show on TV.

That's Peter Sofronas. I think he came back for a short time a few months back.

I first came onto the board last August (2000), when my cable company added Cartoon Network to the lineup, and I found this board through a search of schmYahoo!

I remember my first post (somewhere back around Archive 30 or something) it was about the 2 1934 Cinecolor MM's.

BTW, to throw back on old times, why dosen't Cartoon Network show "Honeymoon Hotel", btw.

I know they've shown "Beauty and the Beast", but I seem to miss it every time they show it (and I don't think they've ever shown it anytime outside of the Sat/Sun morning block).

I'll keep going off the thread if I don't shut up :-D

Peter still posts here occasionally. Look under the list of members, and you'll find him.

Honeymoon Hotel might be considered too romantic for little kids. Just a guess.

Beauty and the Beast was shown on a weekday one-shot Acme Hour a while back. According to the archives, it was on Wednesday, April 25, 2001.

When did everyone first discover TTTP, and what do you remember about how it was like when you discovered it?

I'm relatively new...fall or winter of 2000, found it through Jon's other site at megalink, and lemmetellya, it reminded me of the first time I ever went to an 'old-school' movie theater - and this was back around the time of Mary Poppins - the live-action films were entertaining to say the least, but oh baby, the TOONS...

I discovered it in early 2000, I had been a regular visitor to Jon's page and Matthew's page, but didn't really think to visit the board at first. At the time, posting at message boards scared me a little. My first post at the TTTP sort of concerned the dubbed version end titles, only I didn't know they were dubbed at the time.

Welcome to the TTTP Mr. Livingston!

First posted in April of 2000, after finally joining the internet informed, i.e. " I can make it work !" I've posted less often lately, probably cause most of the points I wished to comment on have been discussed so deeply as to be repetetive at times. Still, it's great to listen and learn, and I especially appreciate the dedication to toons John, Brian, Matthew and all who have websites with Toon Zone. Since I'm admittedly very biased in interest towards classic animation of the 1930's & 1940's I often can't really follow some of the newer animation commentaries.

I do know I've yet to see a decent CN CartoonCartoon creation.

oh yeah, I am writing DVD reviews for Keith Finch over at AnimationonDVD.com if anyone wants to check it out.... :o

I discovered it in 1998, I believe...it was on a provider called "BeSeen Bulletin Boards". I think I was doing a school project when I came upon Jon's site, and I had read many of the posts on the board before I first posted there. I remember a Sylvester background, and the logo had Daffy Duck in a funny hat (from "Beanstalk Bunny".) I also remember a Wile E. Coyote logo with that wheeled helmet/tightrope gag. As I recall anyone could drop in and post, we had a lot more drop-ins than we do now. I was amazed at how much people there knew about Looney Tune cartoons, and I owe half of my extensive knowledge of them to those guys. A lot of the topics we're sick of talking about were discussed then, and were new ideas, and everyone had interesting takes on the cartoons. Names like Joey Mallick, Steve Carras, Todd, Andrew Gilmore, Jon Cooke, and Kevin McCorry come to mind...many of those are still posting today. In June of 1999 I started my own site, and until recently it had a messageboard of its own, hosted by Freeboards, where the TTTP also moved for a while. We lost a LOT of people due to a rash of pranksters, most notably some psycho named "Chuck" who impersonated people, argued with people and basically flooded the board with trash before anyone could delete it all. Then the Termite Terrace board moved to Toonzone, and mine moved to InsideTheWeb, and remained there until "Chuck" finally went away. After that, I tried a couple of other hosting companies, but when I found the one I liked, it folded too...so now my messageboard link goes to this board. It's been quite a site...in such a shaky environment as the internet in the past few years has been, I'm glad this place has stayed around. I enjoy posting and reading here, I have even traded my collection with a number of you, and am now a moderator at this cool new version of the site. So there's my story.

I first discovered it in early '98. I was about halfway through my freshman year of college, and hadn't really been on the internet before I went to college, so I was delighted to find there was a forum where intelligent people talked about classic cartoons. I was delighted to find the board when I did, because it was on here that I first learned TBS and TNT were dropping their cartoons in August of '98. Thanks to the board, I had the foresight to record several episodes of "Bugs Bunny Bugs Bunny Rah Rah Rah!" on TNT, and I still have those today. I sure am glad I did, as those episodes included some rarities, such as "Scalp Trouble," "Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt" (with its original opening title card!), and a few Speedys.

There were some regulars back then who don't post anymore. Among them was Kevin McCorry. While some here (including myself) know why he doesn't post here anymore, I sure wish he would. He had some great and interesting opinions about the cartoons, and was always good for a "Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show" tale or two.

Here it is ... the really old TTTP logo from 1999 (the original just had Daffy from "Beanstalk Bunny" and nothing else... I don't seem to have that one anymore, though):

Whoa, I can really see the improvment from that logo to the ones we have now.

Wow, there is a big difference, but that logo's cool. Maybe something to bring back for an anniversary. I recognise some of the names mentioned by a few of you, Kevin McCorry went by mccorry at the old board, I believe.

I wonder how long this place will keep going, it's lasted longer and been more successful than all other LT boards. I know I'll never leave...
