Really? I would have thought that that couldn't happen because of liscencing and copyright laws. Static isn't DC is it?

I can't confirm this because Static Shock is no longer on this website, but I'm almost certain that it is part of DC. I know that it was a comic book before it was a TV series.

Woah, that's odd. Will it be the same voice actors from TNBA? Will the characters be re-designed for the show?
Any way you could post the article, or at least link to it?

Here's the article:
According to the http://www.fanboyplanet.com website the second season of the popular WB Kids series Static Shock! will end with a bang...and a special guest star.
FanyboyPlanet reports that The Joker, low on cash, pays a visit to Dakota City to kidnap Bang Babies and convince them to join his gang. Among his recruits are Ferret and of course, Hotstreak.Ê
Static investigates FerretÕs disappearance, and attracts the attention of Batman and Robin, who have followed The Joker. While Robin makes nice, the Dark Knight remains aloof and chides Static for being an amateur. By the end of the episode, of course, a respect of some kind is forged.
No airdate has yet been announced.
I think the original voice actors will return. Mark Hamill already voicesa character somewhere on Static, and COnroy will always be Batman. Not to sure about Robin's voice, though.
Also, Static was a comic by DC, but it took place outside the DC Universe in a place called the Dakota Universe. There was a crossover in 1995 when both of the universes collided and temporarily combined. Satic and Superboy teamed up for the vast majority of the the crossover.

I don't have information to confirm this, but whevever I first saw commercials for Static Shock, it just looked to me like a modern revamp of 70's Superhero, Black Lightning. So, I'd imagine that Static owned by DC.
Cheers.

Static is owned by Milestone Media, set up by Dwayne McDuffie and a couple other of prominent African-American creators from the early 1990's. DC had an exclusive agreement to distribute MM books, in return for advertising space in the comics, the DC bullet on the covers and a piece of the profits. MM comics are set in a universe seperate from DC, although they did have a nice crossover with the Superman titles during their run. MM was forced to stop producing comics amid the industry implosion that eventually led to the end of the Valiant and Malibu titles from the same period. It was really too bad because, after Valiant went downhill amid Shooter's ousting, I found MM to be the best collection of super-hero comics on the stands.
MM and DC still have a very strong relationship, which is why MM only wanted to produce Static Shock! through WB and WB didn't want to let anyone else produce it. DC just put out the SS! mini-series, which was used as a "Whatever Happened to..." of the original MM characters, but I'm not sure if the same contract is still in effect or not.

WB is still thinking about bringing back the Milestone Media to comic book form. DC says they were very with happy with STAIC SHOCK: REBIRTH OF THE COOL and may bring back MM characters like Blood Syndicate (Yeah!) and Hardware (Yes!!).

I just got an email from one of the SS crewmen. The storyboards for the episodes were completed a few days back. THis is happening.

What you saw was a clip from the first episode (the name escapes me). Just after Static gets his powers he's trying to create a costume and one of the ones he tries on his Black Lightning’s. It was nothing more than a visual gag.
While I didn't know that Hamill worked on Static Shock, I'm not really suprised. He's a great VA and that's how he's done some of his best work.
I also don't think it should be too big of a problem getting Conroy for the episode, since both SS and JL are WB animation productions and are both currently in production. And as far as I know, all the voice work for the WB animated shows is done in the same studio. Plus Conroy seems to be the type that likes to please the fans and nothing pleases us more than hearing him voice Batman.
One other thing I just thought of, Phil LaMarr, who is doing the voice of GL for JL also does the voice of Static. So I really see no reason why Conroy won't be in that one SS ep since he's also working on JL at the same time.

Here's a little fact. Phillip LaMarr also does the load character of the upcoming Samauri Jack. Neat, eh? He does ALOT of stuff. Conroy will be back. Everyone says that Conroy will always be their Batman, and I know COnroy wouldn't dissapoint. I can't see anyone else attempting to voice the Dark Knight. He's the voice I hear when I read the books.

Yeah when I ever I read comic books on Batman and Superman I think of Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly. What I love about the Batman RPG is that because people have the dialouge for their characters written properly, I can hear the voice actors when i read it.

His voice is jusy so synonymous (sp) with Batman. He is the Batman. He's been the only continuos Batman in the character's history. He's been Batman for over 10 years now, which we'vd gone through 3 live action Batmans in the same time.

Hmmm, I wonder if this means we'll see new designs for Batman, Robin and the Joker for this ep. Their Timm designs would stick out pretty badly if they were inserted into the rounder, slightly cartoony Static universe.

They will stick out badly. I bet they'll be tweaked a bit. Still, they pulled it off for BATMAN BEYOND in THE ZETA PROJECT. Hopefully they can do the same here.

Does anyone have an idea when this will air? This fall, winter or spring??

I can't for the life of me remember where I read this, but it's being prepped for next May's sweeps.

Milestone was really cool and I would love to see the Blood Syndicate return.
In fact I would love to see the Milestone Universe and DC universe merge. It would really change the makeup of the universe and give DC the strong minority characters it needs.
(Yes I love steel but he's not ebough, percentage wise there should be a lot more black heroes and heroes of color in the DC universe).
Also I would love to see Blood Syndicate vs. JLA.
why.
one thing.
The Blood Syndicate wouldn't fight fair, they would cheat.
and the JLA wouldn't know how to deal with a super powered gang lead by a black muslium.

Am I the only one who finds this idea of merging lame? I mean why put Batman and Robin against a bunch of bang babys. In real life all they would do is just use their powers to kill Batman and Robin.
But being the loyal bat fan, I will say that I like it.
