Hi everybody!
I recently did this Supergirl painting (see below) and now I'm sketching on a similar one featuring Batgirl. The only thing is I'd really like to incorporate some copy in the background but I can't think of anything that is short and representative enough for the character. The ones I can come up with are all related to Robin or Batman.
Can anyone out there help me out and suggest a sentence or a word or two that would fit what I'm doing?
Thanks in advance / Jakob

Hey,
Before I say anything--I wanted to tell ya that I created your image into a link, because of it's size, it will seriously slow down some peoples connections.. :)
Now, onto the painting--Dang, that's extremely sweet...
I can't think of anything other than corny stuff...so, hopefully other users will be able to.. :)

Thanks for the kind words on the painting and helping me with the link? Does anyone know how I might change the subject line on the board? I'd like to remove the bytesize part since it's no longer in the post.

Excellent job! That painting is awesome!
Well to Nightwing, Batgirl is the one that got away. :p But let's see if I can't come up with something better. With Batgirl I would say something like: gracefull, strong, independent.
Something that says who she is, and to me she's a very resourceful young girl who is very head strong, and not just your everyday bimbo. And unlike Supergirl, she uses her intellect as WELL as her strength, meanwhile Supergirl is the type to just want in on a crimefighting adventure just for the thrill of it.

That is such an incredible pic! If you haven't already, put it up at the Drawing Board! As for a quote for a Batgirl one, which I can't WAIT to see...ummm.. beauty, brains, heart? or maybe courage...

"Beauty, brains, brawn" is my favourite so far, thanks for the help!
I was thinking about something like "Sidekick Schmidekick", what do you think about that? How would one spell it? Or would it be more like Tim Drake's character to say that?
But let's see if there are any other ideas out there.
Where is this drawingboard you're talking about, it's not Shane Glines' is it?

Here's the first sketch. It's only 24 kb so I thought it'd be ok to post it here. The pose is influenced by a gorgeous painting by Kevin Nowlan.

OMG, that's so fantastic! And the words in the back work perfectly, lol, especially with the Batgirl/Joker DC 1'st storyline still fresh in my mind. I can't wait to see this when it's fully complete. And if you haven't yet, I bet the peeps at the Drawing Board would be dying to see your work!

Once again, thanks for the kind words.
Supergirl was painted with gouache colors on a 26 x 20 inches aquarell-ish paper. I'm quite pleased with the tactile qualities you get when painting with gouache on a textured paper. Batgirl was done with pencils and then scanned and "laid out" in Photoshop. The next step is to get the layout exactly as I want it and print it out in the desired size. After that I trace the printout onto the big sheet of paper with red and blue col-erase and then start painting.
Here's a scan or the original Supergirl pencils

and here's a test layout and coloring of the Supergirl painting
http://w1.833.telia.com/~u83304871/newest_supergirl.gif
and here's a huge scan of the finished painting, that really lets you see the textures.

IF you do Batman, I'd go with Dark Knight Detective.

I won't. I'm sticking to the gals on this series of paintings. There might be some baddies though ;)
And IF I were to do a Batman, I think I'd go with "The Caped Crusader", I think it has a nice nostalgic feel to it. Either that or "Criminals are a superstitious lot", bit too long that one though...
Feel like requesting some other characters?
