Colorized Porky makes his Acme Hour return.:(
We got The Blue Danube (MGM) for a third time! And I thought it was rare...
We got 2 colorized, but none edited.

Yep. CN continues its pre-Avery MGM binge. One wonders how much this fad will last.
"The Blue Danube" was copyrighted 1939 (I think). Don't you all find it strange that it predates "Fantasia?" And doesn't HUgh Harman's style makes you all think he was a clone of Walt Disney? Bob Clampett and Frank Tashlin did much better in "A Corny Concerto."
"Feline Frame-Up" and "The Wearin' of the Grin" are somewhat overplayed Chuck Jones cartoons. "Feline Frame-Up" seems similar to Jonese's (sic) MGM T&J cartoons, although much superior in music and story.

The Wearin' of the Grin is really The Wearing of the Grin.
I find the violence in Feline Frame-Up very annoying. I prefer any one of Jones's MGM Tom & Jerry cartoons over that.
I wouldn't call it a binge, one H-I short, unless you lump Barney Bear into the same category (I kind of consider Barney "The Acme Hour's" signature character, for some reason) isn't that much. I do wish they would show some more Avery cartoons, though.

Let me re-phrase the "Pre-Avery MGM" sentence:
CN continues its Harman-Ising non H-B non Avery cartoon binge with cute animals/grumpy, clumsy bruins dancing around in musical extravaganzas.
Would you prefer they never show the H-I shorts? I love Tex Avery shorts, but I think both Avery and H-I shorts should be played, not one replaced with the other. I'm not going to say I love watching tons of Harman-Ising cartoons, that would get tiring after a while, but they're great in small daily doses. I'm glad they don't show Tom and Jerry all that often, especially since CN has weeded them down to only the safest things to air (with rare ecceptions) on the monotonous Tom and Jerry Show (that show would benifit from having non-Tom and Jerry cartoons put into the mix, or by bringing back Mammy).

Outlaw Star inexplicably ran ten minutes late, so "Feline Frame-Up" got cut.
"It's an Ill Wind"
The gabby goose here seems to be another attempt at finding a sidekick for Porky, as it seems Gabby Goat wasn't too big with the kids. Watch for the bit with the shovel with the coat draped over it popping up to scare Porky. A little mean, I thought, of the dog to hit the turtle in the head.
"The Uninvited Pest" (MGM)
You'd think with all the unwanted guests that drop by come bedtime Barney would start locking his doors and windows (cf. his bratty nephew in "Polar Pest")....
"The Wearing of the Grin"
Trippy, esp. the background in Porky's dance sequence and the line "Some folks just can't keep track of their lower halves." The leprechauns appeared in an ep of Histeria as an Irish theologian in a segment on when the universe began....
"King of the Mardi Gras"
Worst g.d. redrawn I've ever seen. "Bluto" is misspelled "Bloto" on one banner....Olive's eyes look really weird and small in a crowd scene...and the platform she's lying on during the levitation scene inexplicably vanishes.
"The Blue Danube" (MGM)
Hey, a naked fairy chick! :slaver: This is a fun one to make armpit noises to after the "dah-da-da-dah-dah" part....

That show would definitely benefit if the middle cartoon was not a Tom & Jerry. They don't have enough Tom & Jerrys to go around. (Let's face the facts, Mammy will not air regularly:()
