Altho a long time collector, I just stumbled across this board, so hello and greetings to all..
As part of my collection activities, about 6 weeks ago I bought one of the new Pioneer DVD-R units and the results thusfar have been FANTASTIC, archival conversions of moth some of my old tapes and LD's to honest to goodness DVD format (not VCD, not even SVCD, but this is the real deal) have exceeded my wildest dreams...
Two items I would like to throw out here..
1st - where can I find the best quality versions of 'the 11' for a (you'll pardon the expression) 'definative' collection? I've wanted to get these for some time (the ones I have of 8 of 11 are really crummy).
2nd - I will offer my services to any and all that want any of their material DVD'ed.. this service is GRATIS, the only thing I ask for is cost of media and postage. LD conversion is tremendous and the better the VHS/Beta, the better the picture. No, I won't 'mass duplicate' these, if you want an archival copy you have to send me the original to prove ownership (obviously not an issue for PD material)..
