While scanning through the contents of an unlabeled videotape, I came across an "Acme Hour" with the semi-rare "Along Flirtation Walk" in the mix. While I believe it was originally filmed in a 2-color strip, this dubbed version looks more like a B&W short than color. Did WB consider recolorizing "Flirtation" and the other 2-color Merrie Melodies while they were computer colorizing their B&W Looney Tunes?

I'm not a big expert on computer colorizing, but I belive that WB didn't want to spend extra to "colorize" cartoons that were already colored, even if it was in 2-strip (no blue hues). There are quite a few more 2-strip TC toons on regular rotation ("Country Mouse," "My Green Fedora" and "Little Dutch Plate" for example).

CN also played a Cinecolor MM ("Beauty and The Beast") in addition to some 40's Cinecolor cartoons.

2 Strip TC was used in 1934 and 1935 in Merrie Melodies. In 1936, 3-strip TC was introduced in "I Wanna Play House," which was also the first cartoon with rings (blue, to demonstrate the blue hues that were finally allowed.)

I always wondered myself if many of the 2-strip technicolor Merrie Melodies were re-colorized when the "dubbed versions" came out. They often seem too good to be originals.

I believe the reason WB held off 3-strip technicolor until 1936 is because Disney held the rights to it.
