Hi guys, I am new here, and happy to be so! Anyhow...
What kind of adult swim shows to you like better: stuff like Aqua Tenn which is more, well, ....odd, or stuff like Mission Hill? I would like to see more stuff like Mission Hill (such as Welcome To Eltingville). What kind of style would you prefer to see more of on Adult Swim?

Hehhe well as much as I like the edgier "realistic" comedy of Mission Hill, I do need some just plain goofiness sometimes.

If you're new to watching Adult Swim, give Aqua Teen Hunger Force a chance... those of us who have seen all the episodes MANY times over will tell you that its charm grows on you, and eventually you'll find yourself as another lover of Meatwad, Frylock, Master Shake, and "sweet bejeezus" himself, Carl.

And welcome to the boards FreeZap!

Yeah and now that I'm getting the YYH DVDs, and own all the gundam stuff, there's not anything for me to watch on ASA anymore =(

I usually like the odder shows like ATHF better. However, I think AS has a bit too much of that style right now and they really need more shows like Mission Hill.

I think you guys misunderstood his question. ASA has nothing to do with this. Aqua teens, SGC2C, Brak, and Birdman are shows that don't have much of a plot and are just plain...strange. Mission hill, home movies, and Baby Blues have plots and are more serious. He wants to know which you like better(I know, because i was gonna post this same question, but i was worried about people misunderstanding it)

Anyways....I like the weirder stuff better. SGC2C and The Brak Show are my favorites

I prefer the Mission Hill style shows. Not that the Williams Street style comedy shows are bad, but I guess I'd like to see less of that (no offense to anybody working for WS) and I'd like to see a greater variety of programming on ASC, with more regular shows. Eltingville Club, if that could be a series, would be awesome. And I still want to see a Daniel Clowes produced series, but I am sure that will never happen!

I am one of the biggest Comic nerd/anime/D&D players around, so i NEED to see more Eltingville! It seems to be a no brainer for success, but i also thought that way about Clerks.....
Anyhow, i would love to see it, and other shows like it.
But i do like the Hunger Force. I would like to see more shows like Mission Hill, which i really love.

I think Eltingville will get picked up, IF THE ASC RATINGS STAY HIGH!!! =)

It really does deserve a full 12-13 ep run, it's a great concept. Less zit-popping tho, seriously... that stopped being funny at oh age 14 or so.

Although I am a serf affirmed weirdo and ATHF is my fav...I am a fan of anything with a GOOD CLEVER SCRIPT. A show is only as good as its writers.

I wouldn't really call Mission Hill any less odd than Home Movies. In fact, I would say that Home Movies is more realistic in a lot ways. Still, just having more content of any kind is a good thing, even if it does have to be Eltingville (which I really hope stays a very funny one-time special).

As for new shows, we already have The Oblongs to look forward to as well as another season of Home Movies, Baby Blues, and possibly (if any of you read the post) The Ripping Friends.

But the best new thing in the near future? New episodes of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law! Starting in TWO AND 1/2 WEEKS!!!

Yeah and we've waited on those for, what, 6 months now? The new HBAaL will be good, but it's not a 13 episode series (if I recall, I'll be glad to be wrong in this case)

I'm still worried as hell about AS ratings. I mean, 0.9 Nilesen is horrible! Only Home movies and Yu Yu get anything higher.

Yeah and we have every right to worry about those. Until CN starts a full-on ad blitz, the likes of which Comedy Central did with South Park (their break-out show), we likely won't see ratings too much higher than that. The only other way to get the ratings up is word of mouth, so get your friends to watch!!

.9 is not bad for ASC. I mean the highest rated cable program is around 4. I think the highest rated CN program is close to 2. I mean .9 is not bad at all for a cable network that is not on all cable providers showings + its on at 10-12 (11-1 with ASA) + its on a traditionally kids network. AS has passed my expectations. I think CN sees this as a profitable block and will continue to spend money on it.

Well that's true, the ASC block is getting better ratings than Clerks ever did on ABC, so I guess that says something... just not sure what, exactly!

Clerks was an abbhoration... It was poorly advertised, except for the Super Bowl commercial, and that never said when it was on. Plus, there are very very few Neilson Households in the age range both AS and Clerks is aimed at (18-40 right now).

On top of that, the age groups that watched ABC at that time were old people and really young people... all of the 20-somethings and hipsters were off watching their silly little Friends and Seinfeld over on NBC. Top it off with a lineup built around Sabrina the Teenage Witch and you get very poor ratings. ABC was the wrong network to air Clerks on, and they never realized it.

Then again, very few people expected AS to succeed (relatively) as it has.

You forgot that it was pushed back almost 4 months from when it was originally supposed to air, and that the show was more or less cancelled when the first episode aired, and that the 3 episodes they showed were not in order, and they didn't even run the pilot episode which would have made the 3 they did show actually make sense.

So yeah, in that sense, Adult Swim has a slightly better situation... we still should have better ratings, however.
