Hero/ Reelena (they should have kissed)

Ten/Terry (BB): Forgert Dana, anyone notice how he gave he more affection then he did to Dana in the entire series. I would have cracked up if she walked in on him and Melonie in once burned.

Don't go looking for a numbered list, since I suck at picking favorites. Anyway, I might as well start with the ppl named so far and then go onto absolute favorites among the shows I watch...

Heero and Duo, Betty Boop and Bimbo, Plucky and Marsha... Don't mind Babs/Buster- it's cute but I'm not moved either way on it.

Other Gundam peeps: Trowa and Quatre, Wufei and Treize and maybe Zechs too but only if he has his hair up in pigtails

CCS: Li and Sakura, Tomoyo and Meilin, Kero and Spinel (Eriol's winged kitty), Fujitaka and Sonomi (Sakura and Tomoyo's dad and mom, respectively), Touya and Yukito (yes, I still think he's an ugly-ass albino freak but they work well together), Chiharu and Takashi (aka "no-eyes")

Digimon: Tai and Yamato, Sora and Mimi, Jyou and Koushiro, Takeru and Iori, Hikari and Miyako, Ken and Daisuke(yay!), Jenrya and Takato, Ruki and Juri, Sukamon and Chuumon, LadyDevimon and Angewomon. But there's several variations I like and/or find amusing in a sick way.

Fushigi Yugi: Hotohori and Nuriko.

Sailor Moon: Uranus and Neptune.

Gargoyles: Goliath and Elisa.

Emperor's New Groove: Kronk and Kuzco.

Pokemon: "Ash" and "Jessie", "Brock" and "Misty", "Tracey" and "James", "Jenny" and "Joy", "Cassidy" and "Jessibelle", "Samuel Oak" and "Delia Ketchum", "Duplica" and "Melody", "Gary" and "Richie"... In "Ash's" case, I see a large list of ppl (including Mewtwo- want that rant? just ask) interested in him, but I can't see him reciprocating for anyone but "Jessie" or maybe "Gary"(there's a tad more doubt about that one in my book. They could be uncle and nephew, maybe even brothers. ick.)

Man, this is never a topic I ever gave much thought, but the first one that came to mind was Spike and Faye from Cowboy Bebop. I know they weren't a "couple" in the sense you all are talking about, but I loved the dynamic of those two characters together.

I also know these two aren't a couple in the context of this thread, but I'd also pick Boris and Natasha from Bullwinkle!

I guess I just don't have a favorite "couple" in the lovers sense. At least none that I can think of right off the top of my head.

The first couple that popped into my head was Betty and Barney Rubble. I don't know why, they just go together somehow. I had to consider whether Fred and Wilma would, too (answer: yes). I don't why they didn't spring to mind, either.

SpongeBob and Sandy are one of the more interesting young couples on now. You'd think they'd be nothing alike, yet they have so much in common.

Dexter's mom and dad go together. They have a dynamic besides being "Mom" and "Dad." "Son, those muffins are the reason I married your mother!" They actually do romantic things, unusual in cartoon parents.

Babs and Buster - they're married, now aren't they? I'll take them to block.

Boris and Natasha are a couple just like Sherman and Peabod...oops!

Chiharu and Yamazaki are the best, aren't they? I keep wishing a storyline would revolve around them. They don't do much; Yamazaki tells a whopper and Chiharu chokes him, but they're so cute together. The other official couples are good, too -Sakura and Syaoran, Touya and Yukito, but I would like to have seen Tomoyo win Sakura, or Syaoran Yukito.

Digimon's official and semi-official couples don't do much for me. Nothing against them, they're just not interesting to me somehow.

RockItShipper:
Pokemon: "Ash" and "Jessie"....
Unless Nurse Joy does a DNA test and realizes they're half-siblings by Giovanni. Then we're getting into weird and sick territory here. And don't forget Meowth and Snubbull, one of the few dog and cat love affairs you'll see on Saturday morning (Rita and Runt were just friends....)

Others:
*Daria and Tom, Daria. If I can't have her for myself I'd like to know she''s at least happy....
*Stacy and Upchuck, Daria. Don't know about you, but I noticed some chemistry during the magic show she assisted him in. It seemed with him she came out of her shell a bit and showed some backbone.
* Ensign Shimada (sp?) and Kiki, 8th MS G. She's what I see Misty as in a couple of years...and dating a civilian won't get him in dutch with his superiors, like fooling with the enemy or one of his subordinates would.
*Nurse Joy of New Bark Town and Professor Elm, Pokemon. Definite chemistry. I mean, he works in the lab all day; she handles the bills, domestic tasks, and making sure he eats, bathes, and changes his underwear. Note she nags him like they were married already over the Totodile mishap and moons over him like a lovesick schoolgirl (her line about "human relations" got me).
*Ash and Casey, Pokemon. I see Casey stepping into the breach after whatever fling he has with Misty starts to goes downhill after she becomes a little debutante, then ends after he bows out of some fancy concert/play she's got tickets for to tend to the needs of a mother Pokemon in labor. Casey's a more down-to-earth girl who'd be right in there assisting in cleaning and bottle-feeding the whelps.
Yes, I am quite mad.
*Cartman and Wendy, South Park. They're more alike than they realize, as we saw in the South Park flag ep.
*Satan of South Park and Michael Jackson. He'd do better with the Princess of Pop than Saddam. The query is, which will be the pitcher and which the catcher?
*Wolverine and Jubilee, X-Men. When she's of age, I mean. Of course, he's probably old enough to be her great-great-grandpappy. Still, she seems most effective at quieting him when he gets into a rage...maybe a little crush there.

Fred and WIlma (Flinstones)
Homer and Marge (Simpsons)
Kiff and Amy (Futurama)
Batman and Catwoman (but not Bruce and Selina)
Sally and Linus (Peanuts)

and. . .

Tamahome and Miaka (Fushigi Yuugi)
Aya and Tooya (Ayashi no Ceres)
Sana and Akito (Child's Toy)
Nicholas Wolfwood and "Stungun" Millie Thompson (Trigun)
Spike and Faye (as oppsed to Spike and Julia from "Bebop")
Kenshin and Kaoru (Ruroni Kenshin)
Sarasa and Shuri (Legend of Basara)
Inuyasha and Kagome (Inuyasha)
Utena and Anthy or Touga (Rev. Girl: Utena)

Yep. My take on it is that "Ash" would most likely end up with "Gary" then. I figure either he's got the same issues as Li had towards Sakura, or he knows that "Ash" is his illegit uncle or brother... I can see someone like "Casey" or "Duplica", maybe even a fling with a "Jenny" that ends with mistaken identity and 2 angry cousin's cousins kicking him out...

Don't forget the first "Joy" we met.. Nagging 'Jenny' for riding into the Pokemon Center. Little did "Ash" and Pikachu realize it, but someone wasn't getting any that evening.

*Cartman and Wendy, South Park. They're more alike than they realize, as we saw in the South Park flag ep.
Haven't thought much about this one, but it's cute. Gotta say I've become less and less interested in Stan and Wendy since that David Blaine episode. And that's mainly Cartman's fault.

RE: Digimon couples... At the end of the day, I figure that the future bit was a literary invention by TK and the kids ended up in the couples I mentioned in the previous post. But it's alot more fun writing about things like TK and Tai discovering the French girl was indeed a certain Pokemon trainer in drag, followed by...:D

I saw it too, Doc. If they can work out their respective problems (particularly Upchuck), then I see good things for those two.

Sounds good to me. I was including the semi-official couples that are broadly hinted at - Taito, Taira, Jyoumi, Kensuke, and Takari. Yes, I know the dubbers changed the original to "I really care about yoooo," but the way he behaves when he says it....

Bruce and Selina all the way......then......

Hercules and Meg

Terry and Melenie (i think we all like melenie better than dana, i mean, just look at her)

Heero and Relena

The Mayor and Ms. Bellum

The Joker and Harley

Lex and Mercy

Tenchi and Ryoko

Trowa and Quatre

Milo Thatch and Princess Kida

How Joker and Harley excaped my mind is beyond me!

How about Jay and Silent Bob and Dante and Randall from Clerks, the animted series?

Leaping Larry Jojo

Obviously, the anime list of couples would be larger than the American ones since romantic angles in animation are more marketable in Japan.

OTOH, some anime romances are highly unbelievable or incredibly corny. Sooo...

Chirico and Fyana--VOTOMS

--Would be my fave. Probably because it makes sense (sort of) in terms of what they bring to the relationship.

As for Western animation...

I would say Homer and Marge's...at least for most episodes. Some I don't get...Homer's a jerkweed so much to Marge, but I guess that's what love is about. That is, putting up with your other's vices.

In general, my problem with the TK/Kari Takari thing is how it's dubbed and taken up by most ff writers. Can't see Teeks sitting around, wondering 'oh gee, does kari like me?' I figure it'd be a bit down and dirty, and Teeks might try to bring Daisuke in on it. :p
I did see this one fanart in last month's Animedia which sure made it see like TK and Kari had their sons with each other, or that their supposed love affair skipped a generation.

Clerks guys... The whole bit with Dante and Leonardo Leonardo, and Randal's Japanese mail-order husband... I think I'd prefer seeing more of those myself. :D

Anyone see the new South Park, btw? Mr. Mackey and Ms. Chokesondik are cute in a completely disgusting way.

RockItShipper:

Yes, I did, and I nearly spit up my pina colada smoothie. Looked like watching a couple of baboons going at it. That and the scene where Garrison shows kindergartners how to apply a prophalactic got me. "Hey. Why'd you pan over to me just now, huh?" Seriously, that kind of thing shouldn't be taught in schools. Here in the South sex ed is a six-pack and a porno magazine. :p

Other odd pairings:
*Quinn Morgendorffer, Daria, and Pinky, Pinky and the Brain. Probably the strangest FanFic pairing I ever came up with. Though if Billie ever found out she'd probably steal Brain's Patty Ann suit and hop a bus to Lawndale....
*Mummymon and Arachenemon, Digimon. Maybe I'm twisted, but I always love a good unrequited love story. Iori is the sort of girl I'd want for myself, though--quiet, intelligent, computer-literate....
*Marge has put up with a lot from Homer, but I guess they are made for each other. I think she's supposed to be a civilizing influence on him (which to me is the ideal part of the woman in any relationship), but over the last few seasons, due to weariness or bad writing, she's slipped somewhat. I'm wondering, as a Freudian, if Lisa will grow up to marry a man like her father...names like Nelson Muntz or Ralph Wiggum have been tossed around.
*Duckman and his late wife Beatrice. Proof that there's someone for everyone, even sleazy incompetant perverted duck detectives.
*Chelle and Tulio, The Road to El Dorado. I need to watch that one again to be sure, but there's a very dodgy scene where the two are in the "gods" ' tent, lying on the floor off-camera, and all you hear are her lips smacking....and when the high priest comes in she looked ashamed of herself and he has this big goofy smile on his face...was it just kissing or--?

I thought your original post with Amuro Ray was more amusing--she'd hit him over the head for being such a paranoid maniac all the time. Though Amuro's worries come true 90% of the time...

Don't you think a future Dee Dee might add to proceedings like that?

The ending to that was sad, alright. But I can see a number of reasons why Archenimon wasn't interested. Particularly the fact that she and Mummymon were created from the same man's DNA. I'm not sure that makes 'em brother and sister, but it may just creep Archeni out...

Well, I meant Shimada...although he and Ray are a lot alike in the self-questioning, duty vs. do the right thing aspect. Little wonder I got mixed up and thought the ensign was Amuro aged a few years. In fact, when that woman officer told Shimada about an idealistic young officer who died for his pacifist dream, I thought immediately of Amuro and wondered where Frau Bow ended up. It got a little more twisted when Shimada said, "You're talking about yourself, aren't you?" I pictured her in a space-age version of the Hanoi Hilton, being carnally assaulted daily by the enemy...little wonder she's so vicious and bitter.
Though after the other night's show, in which she watched her village torched and her father killed, Kiki may be soured on Shimada. :(

You mean a menage? If asked to participate in such a thing, Pinky might think they were offering him a dessert....

As George Carlin (cleaned up a bit) might say, "If you go to bed with your identical clone, is it incest, gay love, or autoerotiscism?" ;)

I thought of another one - Ranma and Akane. Especially when they argue.

If FanFiction.net ever returns, I'll link you to a Pinky/Batgirl story, Belchie.

And I'm still trying to figure out where Oikawa came up with female spider DNA in his system....

Well, the differences between Amuro and Shimada (I forgot, that's Shiro, right? I don't remember Shiro's last name...) become more prominent as the original MSG series moves on. Amuro whines about doing the right thing a lot, but his kill ratio soars to unprecedented heights later on, while Shiro is hesitant to kill anyone even near the end of the show.

Shiro is a regular likeable officer.

Amuro is a headcase who contradicts himself. When the Zeon start calling him "The White Devil," you know Amuro isn't being a nice guy on the battlefield. Heck, Char, at times, starts looking like a good guy. He was the first anime "villain" with believeably sympathetic motives at the time (note that I say BELIEVABLE--there were a few other sympathetic villains before).

Hey, is the dub MSG still doing the name repetition thing, or is it easing up?

It's not as bad as it was. And I'm seeing Amaru starting to get darker and more irritable and brutal even at this early stage. He mouthed off to a superior officer and got smacked a good one for it, and even Frau thinks he's starting to crack up from pressure and lack of sleep. She might even be a bit afraid of him. Also, she got jealous and made an absolutely horrid face at him for paying a little too much attention to a pretty redheaded female officer, which I found hilarious.

It's at the point where Garma just died, right?

Ah yes, the degeneration of Amuro, or the unfolding of his character. It ain't pretty, but he's about to become the scariest pilot in the show. That, combined with his, uh, "sixth" sense (I won't give too much away) makes him all the more deadly.

Has a character named Lalah Sun been introduced yet? I really liked her. In fact, I would claim that the show really kicked into gear when she came.
