View Full Version : Want a dedicated board to talk about general anime topics?
Then go vote at http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36946 and voice your opinion so the main admins of Toonzone know that we can't much more general anime discussing here =P

It appears that the idea of an anime board isn't very popular with the admins here - they appear to have their reasons. If you're dying for anime discussion there are more boards out on the Internet loaded with more anime discussion than you can read in a week :)

I think that it's just not really needed, sure it would be nice, but you can talk about anime in the cafe or on the entertainment board, so it might seem like waste to them to make a brand new board.
Yeah I mean all we can do is vote and discuss it, the admins are way too set in their ways here... I mean, this is a great board, the adult swim board, but mostly only cuz Matt and Joe do such a good job on the admin side.
Honestly, if I had not read the AS board, I never would've signed up here cuz most of these boards are just BS and have no value, IMHO.
I mean, a General Animation board called, of all things, THE WARNER BROTHERS CLUB!??!? What newbie in their right mind would see that and go, "Oh OBVIOUSLY I can go post an anime thread there!"

Same here. This is the only decent board Toonzone has. The rest is just, dare I say, poop corn.

Contrary to popular belief, Warner Brothers does not make all cartoons. Somehow a lot of people think that.

I voted no for a seperate anime board, but I do think the Warner Bros. Club name needs to change.
I really am offended by that name. I, personally, want nothing to do with WB animation, save the old classics, and I feel... dirty... talking about anime on a board that has the most anti-anime name ever.

Oh come on, aren't you being a little dramatic.? Who cares about the name? Toonzone's got ya covered, there's a board where you can talk about all the anime you want. Why put on an extra one?

There are thousands of anime forums elsewhere. Do we really NEED one here? I say we just keep it the way it is.

I think you're blowing things a little out of proportion.
It was only recently that Warner Bros. Club became the General Animation board. It's the oldest board and it's the board out of which Toon Zone eventually evolved. It's like the flagship of TZ. So that's why the name's there. There's a big ole "General Animation" right after the name, so there's no reason why you should miss it. If someone ever had a real problem with figuring it out, they could just ask a mod, or they'd wind up seeing it moved there from whatever board they put it in in the first place.

If people are having trouble understanding the WBC's name, maybe they could try reading the DESCRIPTION.

Nope, I don't see "Board for the discussion of anime, also known as Japanimation" under WBC. Maybe we're looking at different boards?
You may hit me now. :D
Honestly, though, whether or not we need an anime board has nothing to do with whether or not we need a "General Animation" board.

I'm not going to hit you... but I WILL point out the "the WBC is where members dish it out about ALL THINGS animated" part in the description. It's right after the Trigun listing... can't miss it.

I like the fact that we mix both Eastern and Western animation in these boards, that's why I like coming to this board.

OK, the description implies that anime discussions are welcome, but you can't assume someone who's only seen Pokemon, Dragonball Z and a handfull of Cowboy Bebop episodes will know about Trigun. I suggest that the description be made a bit more explicit for the benefit of utter newbies. :D
Okay, to clear things up, the consensus between us moderators and administrators is that we will not open up an all anime forum. It is not going to happen anytime soon, so do not get your hopes up. If you are so offended by our name, which has a lot of heritage behind it, do not post here. Simple as that. Do not ruin this board for all the people who have enjoyed it over the years by trying to make an issue out of the anime board. This board itself was founded in 1994 - yes, 1994. Anime is welcome here. In fact, anime discussion is encouraged. But this campaigning for an anime board needs to end - and it needs to end now. Anime falls under the category of general animation. If we open an anime board, who's to say that people will say, "Hey, can we have an CGI board? Or a cool claymation board?" Okay, so maybe I am exaggerating, but more specific forums will dilute the general animation board.
We all listen to your concerns, but at the present time, there will be no anime board. We love anime, you can bet on it, (I think Harley has the "Cowboy Bebop" DVD boxed set somewhere, :) ) but we do not feel the need to add an anime board. Our cartoon boards for Toonami, Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons, et. all, are there because we have hosted sites that go along with them. We have no anime website. We are not ruling out an anime board down the line, just not immediately. The administrators and moderators have spoken. Let the discussion end.
As for the board description, we will consider it. The WBC is still in a transition period right now. I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised...
