Is the Green Lantern Corps aware of Apokolips? Are the Guardians aware of the Old Gods or New Gods at all, for that matter? Darkseid taking over planet after planet, you'd think, would certainly get the attention of the Guardians, and that they would have the GL Corps constantly scouting for possible Apokoliptic agreesion...

Anyone know?

I don't see how the GL corps can be un-aware of Apokalips and New Genesis. If you remember, Mother Box told the tale of Darkseid and HighFather in Apokalips...NOW! In that story, it was established that Darkseid has conquered hundreds of planets in the universe, and it would be logical that at least some of them had Green Lanterns assigned to their sector of space. The question now is whether or not those GL's engaged the forces of Darkseid in combat-- and since it seems that Darkseid had never been stopped before Superman managed to do so (but only through the intervention of Orion and New Genesis-- could an enraged Superman have beaten Darkseid on Earth? We'll never know for sure in that instance, but my gut tells me that he might just have been able to do it, beneath the empowering rays of the yellow sun of his adopted planet) can it be assumed that all the GL's died who have faced the hordes of Apokalips?

I would like to think that the GL Corps win some, and lose some against Apokolips. Darkseid's forces can't be everywhere at once, and he has to hold planets once he's taken them. He has to be careful not to spread his (though considerable) resources too thin. Also, he has to constantly worry about Highfather and New Genesis, which immediately limits his capabilities insofar as conquering the entire Milky Way Galaxy...

So, I would guess that the GL Corps has saved many planets from Darkseid's tyranny, but has also lost some planets to Darkseid's tyranny (though I'm sure that they fought a good fight).

I would also like to think that, even though many Green Lanterns would surely fall in battle against Darkseid's forces, that there would also be many Green Lanterns who survived, and have tales to tell... :)

But here's a question: Are the Guardians located in the center of the Milky Way Galaxy? Are New Genesis and Apokolips in the center of the Milky Way Galaxy? Where are the Guardians, New Genesis, and Apokolips, in relation to each other, and Earth???

all very good questions

and you are right-- i bet there are plenty of Green Lantern's who survived the invasions-- but i bet none of them have ever faced Darkseid himself (or his favoured son, Kal-El ;) )

Well, in the comic book version of all of this, Oa (the home planet of the Guardians) was said to be at the center of the universe (where the "center of the universe" is in relation to Earth and the rest of the Milky Way, I have no idea, maybe we're right next door).

Oa was also supposed to only exist in the Earth-1 DC Universe. It had no dopplegangers in the DC Multiverse that existed before the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Anyway, I seem to remember that Apokolips and New Genesis exist in some kind of "alternate plane of reality" or "other dimension" than the universe that Earth and Oa exist in. The Boom Tubes were actually dimensional gateways, more than just teleportation devices.

At any rate, the Green Lantern Corps in the comics covered 3600 sectors of space. And since space is infinite, 3600 Green Lanterns just don't seem like enough to cover the whole galactic enchilada. So even if Apokolips does exist in the same dimension as Oa, Darkseid may have just slipped through the cracks.

Like Toddman said, with only 3600 Green Lanterns, give or take, to cover ALL of space, it would be kinda hard to get into a prolonged conflict with Darkseid. To really stop a planetary invasion force, you would probably have to call in other GLs from other sectors, leaving a lot of "protected space" unprotected. They can't do that.

But then again, they also can't just stand by while a tyrant forcibly takes over a planet. So I imagine the GL of that sector would join up with any resistance movements, and may get some help from a few GLs, but not many.
