Okay, a lot of you have expressed extreme displeasure with DVD "snap cases." Pardon my vast wealth of ignorance, but... what are they? In all my DVD encounteres, I've only encountered one type of DVD case. The only difference I've noticed is the mechanism that holds the DVD into place, which ranges from convenient to frustrating.

Anyone care to school me on this?

The "snapper case" is the type of case used by Warner Bros. and its subsidiaries (HBO, New Line, etc.). The case is mostly cardboard, with only the piece that holds the disc made out of plastic. They're annoying for many reasons, including how easy they are to damage and scratch, and their larger size makes them noticably stick out of anyone'sDVD collection. Also, when a bunch are put side by side on a rack, the plastic "lips" often snag onto the DVD next to it, making it harder to pull one out. WB uses these cases exclusively because they own the company that manufactures them.

Oooooooh! I think I know what you're talking about now. I remember seeing one or two now, and they aren't as good as the rest, true. It just didn't stick out in my mind for some reason.
