I think this will probably end up Vader no contest, but who knows.

Darth Maul was probably the most dedicated apprentice, meaning he was something between an assassin and errand boy. If he was remotely ready to take his own apprentice to overthrow Sidious, he would have done so during TPM. Darth Maul's potential was cut short, so it's hard to tell if or how he would've become a Sith Master Or maybe he was just too loyal to continue the order.
Darth Tyrannus may or may not have studied the Sith arts as long, but his chat with Obi-Wan seems to have been an attempt to recruit him. The very nature of his leading a movement to overthrow a goverment led by his master.... Yes, it was Sidious' plan and all, but it provides more chance for Dooku to overthrow him. And Dooku gets points for his knowledge of Jedi thought and how to subvert it, mentioning Sidious' control of the Senate when the Jedi won't believe things coming from open Sith.
Darth Vader's the most powerful it would seem... But he's the first Sith apprentice shown with a regular 'saber blade. That's all fitting with the way he returns to the light side. And that alone makes him a bad Sith- in destroying the order instad of continuing it.
My choice for best Sith is definitely Sidious. And in his case, being k.o'd in ROTJ isn't a letdown. He gets offed by the "Chosen One", no less. And I love seeing him manipulate things in the prequels... All from the same chair.

Darth Sidious... same reason as RockItShipper.... He did play his cards right.

I was about to vote for Vader and just say "Well he's the coolest one by far." :D But then I changed my mind.
Looking at all of the names I thought of something--all of these men called Sidious "Master" he held power over all of them and in some cases even was the one who corrupted them (Annie :( ) so Emperor Palpatine is the obvious choice.

Wow, I guess I didn't realize how many people loved Sideous. My vote is definitely still for Vader though. Watch Empire Strikes Back and tell me he doesn't rule in that movie. :D

Hmm, i'm gonna have to think about this one some more before i vote. My gut reaction is Maul - when I think Sith/evil, I think Maul - he just had such an animal savergy that really represented what the Sith always were in my mind. But, I think character-wise, Vader is the most interesting of them all. So, I'm undecided right now.

I'm pretty old-school to begin with...plus between the latter two original movies and the prequels we get to see what drives the man and learn about the demons in his past. That's always a plus. Maul was just...there, with little dialogue and no backstory, and all we know about Dooku is that he's also gone rogue, which only means Anakin wasn't the first after all (which to me seems to cheapen it a bit and make it sound like it's fairly common for the Force and the Dark Side to play musical chairs every so often; the way Obi talks, you'd think what Ani did was unprecedented). Sometimes the worst sort of villain is the one who doesn't even realize he is one and believes he's actually being noble-- this may be Ani's path to hell.

This one's tough. I voted for Vader, but just because he's the one Sith (as of now) that we really get to know. Darth Maul has the edge in agility, speed, strength, and just plain bad-assness. Sidious has the rouge card, which means that he'll do what he wants, when he wants. Sidious is the mastermind behind them all, but in the original trilogy, he's around for such a short time that I guess he didn't affect me that much. So my vote goes to Vader.

Vader is my #! sith!! :D He is the one we know the most about, and is the most powerful. Plus, he is a cool character. As a friend said about Sidious "come on, he isn't even scary!". ;)

Darth Sideous/Emperor. From what I remember, he was more powerful than what it seemed like at first.

The Jedi order in the prequels went back a loooong time, and only lost 20 members by AOTC. The other 19 may have well just not been Sith (EU describes an extra in TPM as being a former Jedi now in the bounty hunter biz)... Which means only 2 Republic-era Jedi became Sith. I think it'd be cool if Dooku eventually rejects the Dark Side and refuses to fight Anakin/Vader, who just chops him up anyway. But would that mean Christopher Lee'd be inserted into the Blue Ghost shot in ROTJ? (Luke: "Who are all these freaking people?")
It seems that Sidious and Maul were never in the order. I think Sidious was born to a female Sith master and a Naboo politician, and Maul was a Force-sensitive who never came on the Jedi radar.

Tragic hero, yes. But his role as a Sith is to destroy the order from within, and it doesn't look like either of his children will rebuild it.
