Which Paula Small do you like: the Paula Poundstone version of Paula Small from season 1 episodes 1-5 or the second voice actress (I don't know her name) who did Paula Small for the rest of season 1 and all of season 2?

There are good atributes to both Paulas. With Paula Poundstone voicing Paula Small for the first 5 episodes, see adds several funny lines of dialog to the character. Probably one of my favorite Paula Small quotes was from last night's Shannon fight episode inwhich Paula tries to comfort Brendon after losing the fight:
"One day, you are going to meet a man or a woman who is going to make you happy". I couldn't tell you how much I loved and appreciated that line.

Although, one thing about Paula Poundstone voicing Paula Small is that sometimes it sounded like she was trying to do a stand up comedy routien. Granted she would say a couple funny lines when talking on the phone (to whom I don't know), but it doesn't seem like she had a very good repore with Brendon or the other characters.

With the other voice actress who voiced Paula for the rest of the seasons, she not only had many funny lines, but she also had a great relationship with Brendon. I think what worked well with Paula and Brendon was that Paula treated Brendon more like an adult or even a close friend as oppose to having the typical mother/son relationship. The second actress seems to do a better job of this then Paula Poundstone did.

While we're on the subject of Paula Small, how about we try to create more discussion about her. What are some of your favorite Paula Small quotes/situations? Does anyone think that Paula's eyebrow look like the Nike swoosh?

Poundstone is a child molestor and I just despise her voice in general... she's never been even remotely funny to me, and I have a very hard time watching those first 6 eps...

Mm-hmm. Do you have any concrete evidence to back this up? I've heard about the case brought against her (which I consider to be absolutely ridiculous); I just want to know, do you have anything.

Now, to me, it doesn't matter if Paula Poundstone or Janine (or is it Janice) DiTullo is doing the voice; they are both good in the role.

::sigh:: I knew I should've edited that to add "alleged" but didn't think anyone was going to be so anal about it.

I don't think it's "anal" to correct someone's reckless slander.
I don't remember that she was even an alleged molester. the idea I got from all the reports, besides the child endangerment (driving drunk), was that some of her kids saw her naked. if that's molestation, then half the people in the world have been molested.

now back to topic: there should be an "I don't care" option in the poll.
both Poundstone and the other woman are fine. no great preference.

I'm glad someone noticed that. I really liked it too.

Personally, I liked Poundstone. She seems to project a more motherly image than DiTulio, she's better with the retroscripting, I think, she really nails the OCD thing... I just think her Paula was a more unique and likeable character.

DiTulio, is, however, still very good. I just wish Paula herself was a better character in Season 2.

I know it shouldn't factor in to my decision, but Paula Poundstone's stand-up rules. I think, if she had been more scripted, her version of Paula would have been better. Of course, the scripting has helped the show immeasurably, so it makes it very hard to compare the two.

Ehh... Paula Poundstones voice just does not fit the character for my ears. The new voice just works into the role perfectly I think.
Aww hell, I just think that Poundstones voice is annoying.
Not horribly annoying but after a listening to it for a while it gets....just annoying.

I've been a fan of Paula Poundstone's stand up since I first started watching comedy central 8 years ago. I started watching Home Movies on UPN just because I wanted to hear her voicework. The new Paula is okay, but nothing is going to replace the original.

No I'm 100% with you there DJ Red... the whole arrest thing aside, I just never have found Poundstone funny. Now, granted, the Paula character gets MUCH better lines and plot points in the first 6 eps, but really they used her TOO much... Hence characters like Macguirk and the kids get more and more important in season 2 because Pauala was overused in season 1.
