All I gotta say is that the guy who plays Terry in this is dead on.

As interesting as the project sounds I've got to wonder how they got it cleared through WarnerBros. And if they didn't (as I suspect) then how long will it be before WarnerBros sues them, especially since they'll be selling it.

And I've got to question using the title Batman Beyond: Year One, considering the fact that the series was basically Terry's first year as Batman. Seems a little redundant to me, and makes me wonder how closely it sticks to the source material.

the promos look great. i'd love to see this happen purely out of curiosity. how is a lower budget independant film going to handle the level of special effects you need to pull off this kind of movie? should be really interesting. i guess if they managed to make that green goblin's last stand independant film, then this movie will probably happen too. as far as i know, they didn't market and sell the spidey movie and if these guys do the same(which unfortunatley it doesn't look that way), they'll probably get away with just doing this fan thing.

All you gotta have is a computer to do those effects and maybe a degree in multimedia. Ever see any of those Star Wars fanfilms or websites that feature fanfilms, they could compete in hollywood theaters and people would pay. Albeit some of them are not great.

Interesting. I'll wait until I see more. How is WB taking this?

This seems like it's under WB's radar. Hopefully they won't even notice it.

Hey all, I dont know about the rest of you, but I just think it's cool and am really looking forward to it. I am just glad someone is making a Batman Beyond movie of any kinda. And I would have to agree with some of the other posts in here... look at all those star wars fan made films, they are damn cool, and Lucas doesnt stop them, and that independent spiderman film is being sold, so I dont see the different between this one?? I just wish the damn trailer section was up, but the poster gallery is REALLY cool. It's nice to see Batman Beyond done in a different art style, other than the animation... BATMAN RULES!!

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see this especially if it was popular and got WB to do something with BB again. It's just that I have the feeling that WB is going to crack down very hard on these people. Especially since they say on the site that they plan on selling copies of the movie at the San Diego Comic Con. If they want to keep under WB radar, that is defiantly not the way to do it.

BATMANXMENEDWOOD
06-09-2002, 08:46 PM
it says they will be giving them away to the first 10 people at the con, not selling and it says that it will be on vhs and dvd, so yes they are probably going to sell it, but it never says on the site that they are planning on selling it, Im going to the con this year, hopefully Ill run into them.. maybe get a free copy!! And I agree with the zoddman, awesome casting job!!! Whats wayne going to look like though?? Hopefully as close as Terry does!
Batman rules!!

Hmmm, interesting stuff. Did anyone get the trailer to work? That's what I really wanted to see!

If this movie IS real (and it looks like it might be) then I hope WB catches wind of it. It'll be another strike against them. How an indie director could do a better job with Batman than with an army of overpaid Hollywood celebs, who knows. It goes to show it's all about quality, not the cash involved.

(Note: Darren Aronofsky is an "indie" director too, so that's why I have high hopes for YEAR ONE.)

the TRAILERS ARE UP!!!!!! WOOHOO, looks cool and serious, now I can't wait, seriously I hope WB wises up, but if they stop this production Ill be mad! The first good Batman thing in 5 years and WB puts a stop to it, WB would really be asking for it!!!

WOW, this is out of nowhere!!! very pleasent surprise....

yeah, it looks really cool, but did it look like the future?? i couldnt really tell, it sort of looked like now.

but i liked how it looked, the only thing is its hard to picture anything as bb other than the cartoon. but i may be prejudging the movie. like i think going and "inde" route w/ bb is a bit hard to do, considering w/out a big budget there wont be any special effects, cool "toys", or just the sort of thing youd need to really be on par w/ the cartoon. for some reason i think it would be hard to take serious a dude running around in low budget tights like adam west. i want to see a suit that has rocket boosters, shoots batarangs, etc. know what im saying :yakko:

but it looks like the people who made it really had the right idea in mind and were probably fans of the cartoon, so itll still probably be good, but when i pictured the ill fated batman beyond movie from a while back i pictured it having lots of big things in it that would require a decently big sized budget.

peace.

after looking at the trailers, I think this film is in the right direction. The one trailer looked serious and not some batman and robin crap and the other teaser looked cool, not much to it, but kinda cool teaser. Got me excited! The future.... I dont know.... the filters helped though, it had a cool feel... and if you are wondering what he will look like, head over to the poster section, damn cool!! I did have problems with the trailers though too, had to download them a few time.... anyway.... what do you guys think?? any thoughts on anything??

Good Ol' Batmanuel!

I just checked the trailers section and there's nothing there. :(

06-10-2002, 03:11 PM
That happened to me too. Try reloading the webpage. After viewing the trailers, I got to thinking. Why would somebody go to all that trouble with out asking permission? Maybe the WB cut them a deal or something? http://community.sierra.com/Images/emoticons/shrug.gif I just find it odd that somebody would spend the money and waste that much time if they didn't get permission. The music in the main trailer is great, I wasn't expecting that.

I just watched the trailer and the teaser and both worked fine.
I loved them both.

what a great idea, I hope that I get a copy b4 it gets pulled or something happens from WB.

hey, if nothing else, this site is cool just for the Batman Beyond art and trailers, its worth going for that! Im buying a copy if it's for sale, is anyone else going to buy one?? It's sure to be 10 times better than Batman and Robin, tell me what you think!

hey jim, or any other mods...do any of you have the official word on this movie??

the way i figure it they probably got permission. like everyones been saying, why would they bother to make it if they knew the wb would be all over it and shut it down. the wb probably found those people who run the website and liked their idea of brining comic/animated series to film that stays very true to the original. so they figured bb is dead anyway, why not just let them do it and get good ideas/publicity and hype for the new bat movie. i bet it was all the dudes who run that website, they probably had the idea to do this and got the wb's okay.

so thats my theory anyway, could be wrong, anyone know for sure?? :yakko:

Sure, that sounds lame, but I have the feeling that this guy thinks of this project as something like a work of fan fiction . Just on film instead of "in print". If it were legitimately okayed by Warner Brothers, then there should be a legal statement saying something to the effect of "Batman and Batman Beyond are registered trademarks of DC Comics. Used with permission."

I guess he was trying for dark and ominous, but instead it sounded forced.

yeah exactly what i was thinking.souded pretty wooden like you could tell he was reading from a page..but hey, i'm guessing this is maybe one of his first few acting gigs. i really wish i could've found out about a project like this a year ago..not like i would've even been allowed to partcipate lol...i would've loved to get any kind of major part in it though, since i don't really have the means do to anything on my own.

Here is what came back to me:

If you are referring to WB, then no. We are fan/filmmakers who want to see
Batman done right. We love Batman Beyond and thought more could have been
done with the character. We are independent filmmakers and a lot of people
have given their time and talent to see this project though over the last
year.

The trailers won't download for me, keeps freezing. The pics look sort of cool.

I am excited to see it non the less.

(Is it just me, or did you picture SOMEONE ELSE playing Terry. This actor looks kind of like him, but............then again, I guess it's hard to place a REAL face on a cartoon character. lol)

This is kind of amusing. As far as I know, WB has no problem with fan films, or distributing fan films. But when you start selling them...without asking at all...heh. It doesn't help their cause that people are spilling the beans about this all over the net.

DerekPowers
06-11-2002, 09:15 PM
so they didnt get the wb's okay???!!!

weird that the wb doesnt care, or do they? do they know about it?

id be interested to know officially if the wb allows their characters to be used in inde films cause thats alittle weird.

but hey, it looks cool, but if you ask me a big budget film would suite bb the best. bb's gotta have cool tech stuff and special effects. its kind of one end of the spectrum, good script, but good effect/art direction as well. hmmm...

Zoddman
06-11-2002, 11:12 PM
Don't worry about it, Powers. There's hundreds of Star Wars fanfilms, and none of them have been shut down by Lucasfilm. So if we stop talking about this, it won't be noticed.

langden alger

just judging from the trailers theres one slight thing that's really beyond theyre control of coarse...the scenery. it still has the present day look. nothing too futuristic...of coarse, this might be tied up with the reasoning of constant flasbacks to bruce's prime...i'm not gonna nitpick though, since it's hard enough getting a movie like this off the ground at all. looks like they've already done a great job with what they have. at least somebody is making some form of live action batman. i'm happy.

I have it downloaded, but no where to put it to... For those who want to download it to their PC directly, right click here (http://www.sugarcultmusic.com/site/BatmanBeyond_Trailer_high.mov) and click "Save target as..". It should work.

and like everyone said before..it's a Fan Film. and if LucasFilm doesn't crack down on them, then I doubt if WB will..

then again, this looks to be more than just a 10 second blip of somthing, so WB could get nasty...

Lucas doesn't crack down on fan films that are distributed for free on the web. I doubt that he would be as tolerant if people were attempting to make profit on his characters without his permission.

If you can't see the traliers then try this:

If a red line is on the screen saying "right click to save this", right click on it once and the drop down menu will appear. Double click on the word open. That how i got mine to work.

How am I a [expletive deleted] comic book nerd? Because I don't fall for this?

What the heck is [expletive deleted]? Is it the "S" word mispelled? Did I just spell mispell wrong? Anyway, I think it's humerous (another mispell. Did I spell mispell wrong there, too? Oops.) that you come here under the pretense of a fan who has "discovered" this movie and hype it. Shameless plugging would be so much better. A whisper campaign is wonderful, but when new screennames called things like IMADEABATMANBEYONDMOVIE show up and start doing it, I just find it funny. I also find the legal aspect funny. And your tirade about "WB will really be asking for it..."

Quite honestly, I have a hard time getting excited about a this (A most likely illegal) project, when the people involved can't even act in their WRITING.

I dont understand your problem, the word was [expletive deleted]. It just looks cool, I mean I havent seen anything good with Batman on film. So I figure this is going to be cool.... and I know legal stuff, its not worth WB to come after these guys unless they are going to [expletive deleted] about it, everyone has been pretty positive with there reviews except you, go everybody else!!!

I've decided to close this thread. It seems to be an attempt to promote what is essentially a commercial website for an illegally made movie. Since spamming for commercial websites, and discussion of material that violates copyrights are both against the rules (http://forums.toonzone.net/misc.php?s=&action=showrules), this thread is closed.
