I have the new GC RE & although graphically it's fantastic, I'm tired of all that unecessary backtracking through the game. I understand why it's there & I'm glad the game isn't on rails, but after all these sequels, I'm very tired of getting this medallion in this part of the house just to open a door at the other end of the house which leads to a supposed shortcut that is actually as long as the regular path, etc, etc.

But it wouldn't be a Resident Evil game without the backtracking!
At least I know what to look for once I stop dying all the time. :p Though don't get me wrong, I love the game...

That's part of the element. Alot can happen inbetween those ventures back to the other door. The squeeks of the floor board ....the lightning from outside..the eventual Zombie coming out of no where. It just wouldn't be the same game without the backtracking.
Don't get me wrong. I don't like the back tracking, but it's apart of the games atmosphere.
I'm in the swamp now, So I don't think I'll have to dealw ith the backtracking for a while.

The backtracking wouldn't be so bad if that darn loading sequence (where it shows you opening the door) didn't take so long. It get's VERY annoying when your in a hurry.
Most of the reason for the backtracking is the fact that you can only hold so many items. You don't know when your going to need something so you put it in the trunk. Then you end up needing it a few minutes later so you have to go all the way back. That's really a problem in Chris's game because he can only hold 6 items, instead of 8 like Jill.

backtracking I don't mind--in fact, when you DO have to backtrack to acomplish somthing, somthing probably popped up..for instance:
When you enter Dog Hall from the room where you first get the map, the glass shatters. nothing else happens. If you go out the door at the end. go to the other room, turn around, and go back into Dog Hall, dobermans will crash through the window, and any luck, scare the bejebees out of you...
