I don't like most licensed games. *Everyone gasps* They seem to rarely work. I was reading on the CCF board, and everybody is singing the praises of an Ed, Edd, and Eddy game on the GBA. While I, am scared out of my skull. I know that tere are expections (Sam and Max Hit the Road, Greatest Game Ever, came from a comic book.) so I thought pose some questions:

1. Why do most Licensed games suck?
2. What licensed games haven't sucked?
3. What Licensed games have dissappointed you the most?

Discuss.

1. Because they are selling a NAME, and not a GAME.
2. Ususally the ones by Capcom and Konami.
3. Beast Wars: Transmetals. It's not really a horrible game in itself... but hype from the fandom lead me to believe it would be greater than what it was.

1. Because they're focused on selling something to a particular audience, rather than an actual game. That creates quite tedious results, but with a bit of luck (and a tad bit of skill), nice licensed games can be created.

2. As Christopher said, Capcom and Konami usually make enjoyable licensed games. I really enjoy some of the Disney games Capcom did, and Castle of Illusion, starring Mickey Mouse, is surprisingly good. Admittedly, some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games are well done, particularly the NES ones.

3. Oh, boy... where do I begin? E.T., and practically any children's game based off of a movie or whatnot. And Superman 64, of course.
