With moving in heavy rotation on television, along with strong home video sales, it was a no-brainer to whip up a talkback for this comic book flick!

I'm not exactly sure but just jump to the TBS website (either www.tbs.com or www.superstation.com) to check out. The movie has been on heavy rotation recently, I've noticed, since it premiered awhile back on that channel. I just thought this thread could be set up so people can just dish about it.

SPAWN was a lot better than most people seem to think. It was quite faithful to it's source material. The special effects were just awesome, and there was an actual plot. I wanted to see SPAWN 2 with Angela or something, but Todd McFarlane has decided to go with a SPAWN remake. He wants it to be darker, ect, ect...

Well, I never followed Spawn in comics or the other animated movies, but I really enjoyed the movie!! John whats his face( I can never spell his last name) was excellent as the Clown. Like people said, not perfect, but enjoyable. Oh and to those who haven't seen it, go rent the Directors Cut, don't watch it on TBS.

John Leguazamo.. Yeah his Clown was dead on perfect.
I wanted to see Spawn 2, and was wondering what happened to it. But a Spawn Re-make is even more awesome. Would would be better is if they did the cartoon on the big screen.

I agree I agree I agree all over. Dude just pretty much took all those words and opinions RIGHT from my head, so it's ALMOST like I don't even have to post.....almost. :D
But I can't stress more about that don't watch it on TBS advice. Me I don't watch ANY movie on TBS (or FOX or FX or whatever) because it's always going to be a disappointment. I tried to watch BLADE (yes that's right, BLADE) on FOX of all channels, and oh my lord was it agony. :p
I liked SPAWN a lot, and if there are any projects in the works I say keep it coming. If the special effects and action was that good years ago, imagine what we'll be in store for. :)

When SPAWN first premiered, I was big into the comic. I saw the flick in theaters. I haven't seen it since. I don't remember it being overly good. The effects were great for the time, but the story was far from - which was surprising, as the screenwriter wrote 4 out of the 6 eps of the first season of the animated series, which was quite good. I did see copies of it at Wal*Mart for $10, so I may pick it up for completion's sake (same goes for Batman & Robin, at same price from same place)
Don't get your hopes up of ever seeing Angela again, in print or film. The Gaiman lawsuit prevents the use currently.

Ok, since I've been out of comics for awhile you got me curious. What is Neil Gaiman's lawsuit about?

Giaman created some characters for McFarlane (Angela being one) and reportedly McFarlane hasn't paid him the proper royalties since the inception of the series.
As for the movie, I suggest you get the Director's cut. It's much better than the VHS 'regular edition' or the hacked up version playing on TBS.

The director's cut is awesome. I love the talk McFarlane gives us at the end. His ideas about Batman are a little off, though. He seems to think Batman is just a bored rich man.

His whole Batman idea is a bit off becuase...well...it's totally not what Batman is.
Also, the extras on the DVD are actually real good. The 'behind the scenes' featurette was actually pretty good and kept me fairly interested.

Was that the one narrated by Michael Jai White? If so, it's on the VHS, too.
