Yesterday, I watched "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and today I watched Dick Tracy, and seeing those movies reminded me of Disney in the past when it still had the magic. Seeing Who framed Roger Rabbit, made forget about the anoyance of that Bonkers show, and remeber when 2D animation and live action worked so harmoniously together. The Comedy was tastefull, the drama was not too down-pooring, and just some other good asspects you just won't find in most animated or live movies thies days.

Dick Tracy captured the full essence of the classic comic, it was live viewing a comic in motion(especialy those beutiful hand drawn backgrounds.) Everything in the movie worked so well, the action, the drama, the comedy, and the surprize ending twist. Also the action sequences were done in real time, and on the set, not a bunch of CGI effects of today.

Truely the time those movies were made, Disney was in it's Prime, too bad they don't make them like that anymore. What other past Disney movies and shows do you think were made in Disney's Prime?

You listed two very great movies and reminded me that I need to pick up Dick Tracy on DVD. As for some others that I've really enjoyed from Disney's "Quality Age":

The Rocketeer - Around the time of this movie I was able to collect up some of the merchandise and thought that the story was entertaining. Not only that but I've always enjoyed learning about WWII and found this as a natural extension.

Beauty and the Beast - Before Lion King and Aladdin came a film that was accessible to both boys and girls and provided the audience with a great story. I still have one of Pizza Huts promotional puzzles unopened that came out around the time it was released in theatres. Really looking forward to picking this up on DVD in about 3+ months.

There are some more but they are eluding me right now.

I forgot about the Rocketeer, that was a pretty good movie. Lets see.... there was also Oliver and Company, who would have thought of having the character as dogs and cats in a big city, now that was original thinking.

And it had Billy Joel in it too. That was back when it was a pain to get stars to do animated films.

"Rocketeer" and "Dick Tracy" kicked ass. Still, I wouldn't say that all of recent Disney movies stunk. After all, Disney owns Touchstone, and Touchstone put out "The Rock, one the best action movies, in my opinion, and "Armageddeon".

That may be true, but have you seen any real good current movies that wear the Disney symbol theis days?

I liked the Emperor's New Groove. It was very clever and self-aware.

I agree, it reminded me of the self-awarness of the OLD goofy cartoons.

I never cared for the Rocketeer or Roger Rabbit, but Dick Tracy rocks.

I enjoy most all Disney cartoon movies pre-Lion King (Snow White to Aladdin).

I think it would be nice if perhaps Disney did a fairy tale again. Little Red Riding Hood maybe. Or Rupunzel or however you spell it heh.

I loved Rockeeter! I remember that movie when I was little, and I recall thinking that the rocket-pack was the coolest thing I had ever seen and how I wish I could have found one. I think I saw Dick Tracey once, sad huh? I really need to go rent it and watch it again! Who framed Roger Rabbit, is a random and very entertaining toon/live action movie. A definete once of a kind that reminds people of the early days of Disney. The same with Beauty and the Beast, the best animated movie I think Disney has produced, and one that showed Disney in it's prime.

I'm still trying to figure out what anime Disney stole "Lilo & Stitch" from. I'll get back to you on this.

But yeah, Disney has definitely lost the magic. And losing the 1st Academy Award to Dreamworks was the nail in the coffin. Now they're probably gonna go full force with a bunch of stupid CGI flicks. I personally didn't like Dreamworks' style of CGI, I thought "A BUGS LIFE" was alot better than "ANTZ".

I miss those flicks like the "Rocketeer" and "Dick Tracy". But now that the Batman/pulp characters has faded into memory, they'll find a way to copy the Marvel superhero characters some way. Which is another reason they should just buy them out.

Anyway, I am personally waiting to see what can come after "Lilo & Stitch", because it just looks all down hill from here. Keep making flicks like Pearl Harbor and they're almost down there.

After "Lilo and Stitch" (a movie I plan to see during its opening weekend) they have another movie that looks great - "Treasure Planet". A teaser for the film can be found here. (http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/treasureplanet/flash.html)

While a lot of Disney's live action picture have left a lot to be desired it looks like anything that has been animated and doesn't have a 2 at the end of it looks really good. I can honestly say though that I've enjoyed almost all of Disney's original animated features and rank "Tarzan" and "Atlantis" as a couple of my fave animated Disney movies.

The Mighty Ducks movies rocked. I am still waiting for D2 and D3 to come out on DVD. These would probably be my favorite Disney live action flicks. Got me interested in hockey at a young age and turned me into a Pittsburgh Penguins hardcore fan.

I also thought the rocketpack in the Rockteer was awesome and that I wish I could find one, it was just that the movie bored me. I think I fell asleep while watching it heh.

I also enjoyed all the Honey I Shrunk The Kids movies and the tv show. And the The Santas Clause was great, the sequel comes out in Novemeber I believe.
