David Goyer, the writer we can, and should, all thank for the first two BLADE films, is talking about his work in the upcoming third in the trilogy, BLADE 3.

According to Goyer, a prolific comic-and-screen writer, he’s decided to shift away from the idea he floated around the time of BLADE 2’s release, which was to take place 20 or so years after the first two films and take a DARK KNIGHT RETURNS angle on Blade’s eternal fight against vampires, and shifted towards an as yet unknown idea.

"It's been modified somewhat from the PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES approach," Goyer said. "I'm pretty excited about it, though."

He also revealed a bit about the newly revived, now PG-13 version of GHOST RIDER. "I'm told that they are using my script for as the starting point," Goyer said about the project, SHAFT’s Shane Salerno is in the process of rewriting.

I'm kind of mixed of the idea about the 20 or so years in the future story getting nixed. But at the same time glad. At least now we might get to see Whistler in a more active role instead of the flashback that probably would have occoured in the original idea. But I'm sure anything the Goyer comes up with will be great.

I have to wonder now if Sony did in fact get all film rights for Ghost Rider from Dimension.
